Hi all genies,
This is my first posting to the group.
Whilst in Ohio last month I was shown a invitation to a COBB-STANLEY
reunion which was the 54th one.----silly me didn't get a copy of it, so
am unsure where it was held.
I have a copy of the invitation and 6 photos of the attending people for
the 2nd reunion which took place in September 1885 in Damascus, Ohio.
Sorry, the photos are nameless---like usual!!
Are there any descendants who may have attended the 1935 reunion be able
to fill me in on any data for my rellie may have attended?
Glad to have made your accquaintance.
Regards, Michele in a cool Wintery Sydney, Australia.
I am a new subscriber to this list. I am researching information
about my great grandmother whose name was Melinda Cobb. She married
a Charles Abbot Parker in St. Louis in 1867. I have her birth date
from family hand-me-down information as October 17, 1840. Charles
and Melinda had a son Charles Edward Parker who was born in St. Louis
on October 20, 1868 . Any information would be welcome.

Hi Linda,
My Cobb family also comes from Pontotoc Co., MS. I found my
gr-gr-grandfather, Daniel Davenport Cobb, listed on the 1860 Pontotoc Co.,
MS census.
#339
Daniel D. Cobb 36 m Farmer SC
Eliza A. Cobb 21 f SC
John L. Cobb 15 m SC
Margaret A. Cobb 13 f MS
Lourany E. Cobb 11 f MS
Nancy M. Cobb 9 f MS
Doctor H. Cobb 5 m MS
Thos. Susan Cobb 2 f MS
Malinda J. Anderson 1 f MS
Daniel and Eliza are listed as being born in SC. However, Daniel's granddau.
said that Daniel came from England to NC and married a Huffman girl from
Ireland. With the ages of the older children I have to wonder if this Eliza
is a second wife?
Doctor H. Cobb listed here is my gr-grandfather, Hugh "Dock" Cobb. I do not
know who Daniel's parents were or if he had any siblings. I thought it was
ironic that both of our Cobb families were in Pontotoc Co., MS around the
same time. Do you think there could be a connection?

To All:
I have sent one message related to this one, but my search has taken on a much narrower focus. I'm currently searching for one person--"Anne B. Cobb". Anne B. Cobb was born to Ruth Winger Bagley and William Brooks Cobb in 1933 most likely in New York City. She may very well be living today, but I do not know where to contact her. Has anyone ever heard of her? Any ideas on who to contact for information?
I would very much appreciate your help.
Thank you,

Hi everyone,
While doing some research I came across the following:
Taken from: Marriage and Death Notices in Raleigh Register and North Carolina
State Gazette--1846-1855
Compiled by Carrie L. Broughton, State Librarian
pg. 512
1849
Cobb, John W. Sept. 30, Kinston, Lenoir County. R.R. Oct. 10, 1849
Cobbs, Mrs. Sarah of Johnston County, Feb. 6, Choctaw County, Ala.
R.R. Feb. 24, 1849
I imagine the R.R. means Raleigh Register. Hope this helps someone.

To All:
I am looking for information on Ruth Cobb (born 1902 to William Chandler Bagley and Florence Maclean Winger Bagley) and William B. Cobb, and their daughter Anne Cobb. The last, Anne Cobb, may still be living today. I know that she was born in the 1920s or 30s. The last address I have for this family is in Winnetka, Illinois.
I would very much appreciate anyone's help.
Thank you,

Hello,
I am still trying to break through the brick wall in regard to Nancy A. Elmore who married unknown Helton. Do you have any idea or theory who this might of been? I have information on her Elmore and Rippy ancestors if you are interested?
You will probably remember my Cobb family descends from what is commonly referred to as the Ambrose Cobb line. Ambrose Cobb was one of the earliest members of the Cobb family to emigrate from Kent Co., England, to the Virginia Colony. My line descending from Ambrose and a couple of interesting branches:
a.. Ambrose Cobb, b. abt. 1729, York Co., VA, m. Sarah LNU abt. 1749, Halifax Co., VA, d. abt. 1797
a.. James Cobb, b. abt. 1770, Halifax Co., VA, m. Sarah Beach, October 23, 1790, Lincoln Co., NC, who later married (2) William West, d. abt. 1805, Lincoln Co., NC.
a.. Robert Cobb, b. abt. 1791, Lincoln Co., NC, m. Eleanor Phillips, February 15, 1813, Lincoln Co., NC, d. abt 1830-1840, Lincoln Co., NC.
a.. James Cobb, b. abt. 1814, Lincoln Co., NC, m. Frances "Fannie" Helton, February 3, 1838, Lincoln Co., NC, daughter of Nancy A. Elmore, b. February 12, 1784, who married unknown Helton abt. 1802-1804, d. April 11, 1848, buried at Labratory Methodist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., NC. She was the daughter of William5 Elmore Sr.
a.. Henry Cobb m. Nancy Helton, December 16, 1840, daughter of Nancy A. Elmore. She was the daughter of William5 Elmore Sr.
a.. Leroy Levi Cobb, son of James Cobb (above), b. February 14, 1847, Lincolnton, Lincoln Co., NC, m. Mary Elizabeth Helton, 1871, daughter of John Helton, Sevierville, Sevier Co., TN, believed to be a son of Nancy A. Elmore, daughter of William5 Elmore Sr.
a.. Beatrice Cobb, great granddaughter of James Cobb (above), was longtime publisher of The News Herald of Morganton, Burke Co., NC. Known affectionately as Miss Bea, she was a prominent figure, not only in newspaper circles but also in the Morganton community, the state of North Carolina and also a national figure in Democratic politics for many years.
I have just recently begun researching the Helton line that led me to Elmore and Rippy. Can you provide any further background information, documentation or resources on any of these family lines? Do you have any idea or theory what Helton Nancy A. Elmore married? I am particularly interested in Cobb and Nancy A. Elmore.
In summary, Could you suggest other persons who may be interested in exchanging information? I would be happy to share any Cobb information. I am looking for any and all information; additional records, biographical sketches or compiled genealogies that you could provide and would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to reimburse you for any copying costs. Thank you for your assistance. It is very greatly appreciated. Best, Mike

Natchez Ct Records show that there was a large dispute between this

be over a horse. And there was some controversy regarding how Arthur Cobb
came to lose an eye.

Another entry was: The Nathaniel Cobb family/data compiled by Fredna

To All:
I'm looking for any descendants of a William B. Cobb who was married to a *Ruth Winger Bagley. The latter, Ruth Winger Bagley, was the daughter of a William Chandler Bagley who was a Professor of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University from 1917 to 1939.
