Hi everybody,
Does anyone out there have a Mary Jones married to a man with the last name
of Cobb somewhere in the early to mid 1800's in their family line? They had
a son named John in June of 1844. And they lived in AL, GA, TN area, I
think. I just got a copy of my g-g-granddad's death certificate. My
g-granddad gave the info for it. He gives Mary as his grandmother but didn't
know his grandfather's name. I'd sure appreciate any help.
Cindy
I am a descendent of John Paul Cobb, through my great grandmother Mary Jane
Cobb. Below is some of what I have. Are you looking for any particular line?
Will be glad to share all that I have.

Hi,
I just found my COBBs before and after Greene Co., IL.
Yes, I am related to Clisby COBB. Yes, I have seen the COBB
Chronicles, but did not photostat any of the pages. Yes, I
have over 3 ancestors in the Revolutionary War. No, I am
not joining the DAR.
My COBBs have North Carolina beginnings and Oklahoma
endings.
Thank you for all of the assistance that this sight has
provided, but my real breakthrough came through someone
claiming we were not related in Oklahoma. He raised my
ire. I had/have proof but they are non-believers; I knew
better. I have even found my great, great grandmother's
grave (Siotha HUDSON COBB), something I thought would never
happen.
My quest has ended temporarily. I will be back later to
track the North Carolina family back to their American
travels and further into England.
Thank you for all of the information that pours through this
site. Thank you to all of the people who gave information
that I needed and to those who refused to acknowledge my
claim. Both sets of people gave me the drive to continue
on.
Whatever you do:
Don't give up.
Don't believe people who say "there's no connection." THEY
overlooked it.
Sue Norris
Is anyone tracing:
William Alfred COBB, (m. Charlotte HENSON); he was b. 1809, Burke County, NC.
His father was:
John Paul COBB, b. ca 1740 Cobham, England;

Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for any information about GEORGE N. COBB who married my husband's g-g-grandmother MRS. LOU BILBERRY (her 2nd marriage) December 26, 1888 in UNION PARISH, LA. I think they eventually moved and settled in Arkansas. Lou is buried in Gurdon, AR. I am interested in the children from this union. Thank you!

Earlier today I posted the following note:
If anyone is considering purchasing a product from Ancestry. com, if you'll
email me privately I'll share my experiences with you before you spend the
money.
I received over 200 (and still climbing) responses.
To re-hash briefly: my problem was not w/the database subscription service,
but with a product (genealogy program) I had purchased and wanted to return.
You need an authorization # to facilitate a return and you only have a set
number of days to get credit on your mastercard. I had sent 11 emails (!)
from Oct. 22 to Nov. 17 and not ONE was answered. Time was running out for a
successful return/credit.
I wanted to let you know the latest.
This afternoon I was contacted by a rep from Ancestry.com. Interestingly,
his call did not come from my emails or phone call, but from his being
alerted through an internet sighting of my original posting. (Ahh, the power
of the internet!)
He was apologetic about (1) the fact I have sent 11 emails and received no
response and (2) the fact that a phone call was also ignored.
This employee stated he had been recently hired to improve customer relations
and seems willing to give it a try. I give him an A+ for attitude and think
he has the company's best interest at heart. We can give him a chance to
turn it around.
(The true test, in my case, will be when I see the credit show up on my
mastercard. Then I'll be a believer.)
Thank you all for sharing your experiences with me and I hope for those of
you who have also had problems with the company, they will be resolved to
your satisfaction as mine has been.
Happy hunting,
Glenna Kinard

Hi everyone
I am searching for information on a Mary COBB that married Isaac LATHROP in
Jefferson county, IN in 1833.
I have found other COBBS living in this area, but don't know how, or IF they
tie together. I am hoping someone might recognize this family -- assuming
they are one family, that is. :) These are the dates that I found
information on each of these individuals -- in Jefferson county, IN:
William -- 1812 - 1820
Ambrose -- 1818 - 1820
Thomas -- 1818 - 1820, 1840 census
Henry -- 1840 census
Cythy P. -- married in 1845
Found an Ambrose COBB in VanBuren county, IN in 1840
Hopefully, someone will recognize these names if they relate to each other.
Thanks!
Kathy

Can anyone tell me how these Cobb familles are related?
John and Betsey Cobb m. 1803 resided at Charlemont, Franklin County, MA had
sons William, Alexis, Ruel, and daughters Eliza and Saphrona all born between
1804 and 1819.
Barney Cobb was residing at Hawley, Franklin County, MA in 1820. He is
thought to have settled at Bedford, Cuyahoga County, OH about 1823. In 1829
he had a son Alexis. Have been unable to identify his wife or other children.
Since Alexis was not a common name for a man at that time, I am sure there
must be some connection between these two families. Can anyone help me with
this?

Dear COBB list.
I have posted this to the COBB list before but have gotten no replies.
PLEASE Help, I am at a dead end on this. Has anyone ever heard of a Jim Cobb
that married a Barbara Black? (I checked Broderbund's marriage CDs and find
a Joseph that married a B. Black.) My ggrandmother's name was Rachel Elvira
Cobb. According to her death certificate (from Cherokee Cty, AL) her parents
were Jim and Barbara. According to a couple of different censuses she was
born in TN in 1869 and her parents were both born in GA. I can find no Jim
or Barbara in the 1870 census for TN, GA or AL. I do not know where in GA
they were supposed to be from nor do I know where in TN Rachel was supposed
to be born. Drawing some conclusions, I suspect that Jim and Barbara were
from around Gilmer, Murray, Whitfield, Lumpkin, GA county areas. I suspect
Rachel may have been born around Hamilton, Rhea, Meigs, TN county areas. The
only reasons I suspect those areas are that is around the area where they
wound up living.
