Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Hi folks,
I've made a web page for Jerrie Cobb, Oklahoma Flight Pioneer, one of
several women that trained in the Mercury Program in the '60s. Her career
as a woman astronaut was cut short in the '60s when "good ol' boys in
Congress didn't like the idea of women sharing the spotlight with America's
macho astronauts."
The page includes pictures and links to recent articles on her career.

BURKE. Thadeus was the son of Rowland Cobb 1796 SC-1867 TX and Mary Ann
EDWARDS.
Rowland was the son of Rev. John Cobb 1759 VA-1841 SC and Frankie SMITH of

Hello:
This is just to share with the list:
Today we placed a Confederate military upright monument for W. MILTON
MCCONNELL WHO SERVED IN CO. B, 2ND S.C. RIFLES AND LIVED FROM 1837 TILL
ABOUT 1870 AT BIO BAPTIST CHURCH IN HART CO., GA.
MILTON was the husband of SARAH ANN COBB 1837--1883. She was the
daughter of James Humphrey Cobb and Mary Sullivan. James H. Cobb was
the son of John Cobb and Frankie Smith of Old Ninety Six, S.C. John
Cobb was the son of Ambrose Cobb and Ambrose was the son of Robert Cobb
and Rober the son of AMbrose Cobb of Va.
Sarah Ann Cobb and Milton McConnell (who was son of William Mcconnell
and Sarah Stewart) had 3 children. One of which was Frances Ellen
McConnell my Great Grandmother and she married Jefferson Jackson
Beauregard Brown the son of William Jefferson and Saphronia Milla Jane
Teasley Brown. William J. Brown served in Co. F, 38th Ga. out of Hart
co. and he died in Nelson Co., Va. of Typhoid Fever.
Well I wanted to share the fact with you that the monument is in place
and now after all these years he now has a monument to commemorate his
existence in the world.
I am sure that he is not really buried there with Sarah Ann but that he
is in actuality buried probably at Old Hendry's in hart Co. Bio Bapt.
church had not been established at the time of Milton's death but Old
Hendry's (which is abandoned now) is where Sarah's brother is buried who
died in the Confederate Army. One of her other brothers died at
Sharpsburg a year later.
