Hello, I am forwarding this post from my cousin, Barbara on her KYOWEN list.
This map shows Lusbys Mill in 1883 and refers to J.D. COBB, John D. COBB, P.M.
COBB, and F.M. COBB in Owen Co KY. For those of you with Owen Co KY roots,
this is a good reference. Barbara will post more in the future.
Also, Barbara's websight listed below has some excellent information for those
of you with Owen Co KY roots.

I just ran across this patrons list from the 1883 Owen Atlas my original
intention was to post it here, but it contained to much information and made
it hard to read so I placed it on my web page.
The Atlas was published in 1883 and I would assume these were the sponsors. It
gives the name, number of acres, PO, Occupation, place of birth and date of
settlement in Owen Co. I have the names of the Lusby Mill Precinct No 2 on my
page the direct link is:
http://members.aol.com/cliftoncuz/LMT.htm
The Atlas also has the following Precinct's: Montery, Harmony, Caney, New
Columbus and Owenton. If you would give me some feedback on your area of
research I will be glad to post this information on the Owen research pages.
Send me an email RootDigers(a)aol.com and the most request will be posted next
week. Barbara

On January 5, 1998 Texie Seaman sent in a message about a boo called The
Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England. Cannot find the
book anywhere.
Texie's address is not receiving mail so, I assume she either changed it
or is no longer on the net.
I hve found since then that I belong to the Henry Cobb line and would
like to communicate with her. If anyone has knowledge of her, please
let her know I am looking for her.
My address is macbob(a)pacwest.net.
Thanks,

I also have COBB's in the northeast around the same time period
but mine is in NJ. I do not know his parents so I don't know if
he came from NY or not. Here is what I have:
Enos COBB m. Martha. He was in Cumberland Co., NJ in the 1810
Census. His children were: Hannah (m. Aaron Treadway), Lavinia
(m. Smith Mason), Samuel (m. Hannah Treadway) and William (m.
Prudence Fogg - my line).

Hi Midge,
I have several Cobb's in my tree. They are mostly from MI but the oldest
ones were born in Indiana or PA. I have
1. James Cobb b abt 1804 (just a guess) m Catherine Cash (I am not sure if
this is her maiden name or a previous husband's name)
i William Augustus Cobb b 1825 PA or IN m Lucinda Cannon b 1829 Goshen,
Chester Co, PA
1. Frisbee 1853
2. James 1854
3. Lydia Agnes 8-23-1855 in Titusville, PA
4. Francis Napoleon 1857
5. Rosetta (twin) 1859
6. Clarisa (twin) 1859
7. Nancy 1862
8. Mary 1868
I have 2 different sources for William Augustus birth. I would love to find
any of his siblings or more documentation on James or any of them<G>
This is a very busy time for me (# 7 grandchild is waiting to be born<VG>)
so I will probably be slow at answering. Please, if we have data that we
can exchange, remind me in a few days if I haven't answered.)
Probably a cousin somehow<G>

Page 186 No. 827
Stephen COBB - 640 acres at south of Lick Creek on Nolachuncky River,
Alexander MARTIN at Fayetteville, 17 No 1790.
I am uncertain whether the "Fayetteville" refers to a town in NC or in
TN. In other entries around this one the towns seems to be NC names;
however after 1800 the towns are definitely in TN.
Does anyone recognize Stephen?

I have the Asa COBB line which started out in ENG and then was in NY and then
PA>OH>IN>MO and then TX. You can visit my COBB page at:

I have been following the COBB messages for a while hoping to grasp some
information on the COBBs that did not come from the southern part of the
states. It seems they all came from England to NC or VA. I have been
following the migrations sent in by Betty J. Atkinson and am impressed with
all the information that has been brought up.
But, alas, nothing about COBBs in NY. My Cobbs are like glancing at night
birds, only a glimps, then gone.
My great great grandfather, CHARLES COBB was born 1800/10 in Cortland Co,
NY. He was married to HANNAH JONES born 1810 in Texas Valley, NY. Their
son CHARLES A COBB was born 1831, Texas Valley, Cortland Co, NY. He was
married to LOVISA SMITH born 1841, ILL.
That is all I have about the Cobbs. If there is anyone who has a Cobb "Up
north", please let me know. I would like to compare information with them.
Thanks, macbob(a)pacwest.net
