I would like more information on Abigail STEWART, (b. Sandwich, Barnstable, MA June 4, 1692), married Samuel COBB, son of Jonathon, grandson of Henry (March 5, 1707/08), and died at Portland, Cumberland, ME (September 3, 1766). I have someone on the STEWART list looking for this but we have not pinned it down yet. Thanks!
David
BURT ORVAL COBB WAS born in 1872, we don't know where, nor anything about his parents. He was probably living in or near Cherokee, Iowa when he married LILLIAN GOFF (born 1875 in Cherokee, IA) in about 1894.
Of their children we know only of two sons: MILAN COBB and ROLAND ("MAX") COBB (there may also be a son REX COBB).
MAX COBB was born in Iowa (probably Cherokee, IA) on November 19, 1895 or 96. MILAN COBB was born November 21, 1903, also probably in Cherokee.
Roland ("Max") Cobb served in the Navy in WW I. He trained at Great Lakes, Illinois and League Island, Pennsylvania. He served on the U.S.S. Rathburn, No. 113.
MAX and MILAN COBB both lived in Illinois, probably in Chicago. We believe they were there in the 20s and possibly 30s -- But by the 40s they were living in San Jose, CA.
Family members remember visiting the Cobbs in San Jose in the 40s and 50s, and recall that one or both of the brothers operated a bar or restaurant there, and was/were in the real estate business.
It is believed that MAX was married to a LEOLA ______________.
MILAN COBB's wife may have been ELLA ________________.
The same family members who visited the Cobbs in San Jose recall that MAX and LEOLA had either one son only, or a son and a daughter (They may have the families of Max and Milan mixed up?).
What I would hope for is to find a member of the family, or at least someone who actually knew of the family in San Jose, remembered the bar/restaurant, or etc. Wherever possible we like to find out more than names and dates with regard to our ancestors and family. We like to know what life was like for them in the times and places they lived. Their descendants, if there are any, are our fellow Goff descendants, and we would like to add them (those of them who wouldn't mind being added) to our family history which we have spent several years gathering -- We would be glad to share with them all that we have on our mutual ancestors, and we would also like to find out how their (Cobb) branch of the family has fared, and learn more about Burt Orval Cobb, his parents, and where they came from.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I do not have anything to add to your posting, as I just heard about most of the English lineage a few days ago, from Al Myers. You did have some more definite birth years, if they are accurate, and the first names of two spouses, Elizabeth and Alice. We are descended from Henry, Sr. and Pleasance R. through Henry, Jr. of Barnstable, MA.
This is the first time I had connected another brother of Henry, Jr. - namely Benjamin, as outlined in your posting. This may well be old hat, but where did Benjamin's line settle in America? Were there other siblings, either in England or who immigrated here? I just need to get oriented. Thanx.

Hello
I am a new subscriber to this mailing list. I am researching the COBBEs of Walgherton, Wybunbury & Hough in the county of Cheshire, England. They were Gentry living at Walgherton hall, Manor Farm and Dove House Farm at various times. I have traced them to 1663 when William Cobbe married Ellianor Trevis of Shavington. I suspect that William Cobbe came from Staffordshire. Various clues suggest this but I have not yet made any connections.
I was born in Wybunbury and my Grandmother's mother was the last COBBE to live in the village. Her great uncle had drunk and squandered the family fortunes! Wybunbury is quite rich in COBBE associations. There is a lane called COBBE's LANE and an area of land named COBBEs MOSS. Carved into the battlements of the church tower is the graffiti: T. COBBE. The family were quite influential in the locality at one time.
If anyone is researching the same family it would be great to share info. Some of the Cobbes went to live in Helsby, nr Frodsham, Cheshire.
I have traced (with the assistance of a fellow researcher) the ancestors of Ellianor Trevis (who married the first William Cobbe) back to circa 1470 & possibly to 1066 if a link can be made with the Lancashire Travers from whom Hamlet Travis, the ancestor b.c.1470, claimed descent.
I am also researching various names in Hampshire and have noticed many COBBs living in the county. Parishes I am searching include: Selbourne, Buriton & Petersfield.
I do hope there is someone out there who is looking for a 'lost' William COBBE in Staffordshire (poss. Lichfield) who can help me trace my ancestor.
Regards
Liz Wakelin
Hey guys,
I've filled my plate a bit too full and I'm trying to find a new listowner
for the Cobb mailing list. Are there any volunteers out there? I just don't
have time to do this list justice. :(

Looking for any information about Enos Cobb who married Martha (unknown
surname). Two of their children, Samuel (b. 1814) and William (b. 1824)
were born in Port Elizabeth, Cumberland Co., NJ. They had at least two
other children, Hannah and Lavinia.
Hi!,
I am reasearching the family of Samuel Mack Rayburn born in Alabama in
June, 1857. He married Sarah L. in Lauderdale Co. AL in 1880. They had
three children and moved to Wayne Co. TN in 1883. I am esepecially
interested in the siblings and parents of Samuel Mack Rayburn. I am
currently investigating a possible tie to the family of Howell Jackson
Rayburn.
