Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I have two Henry Coats.
Henry Coats b abt 1780 North Carolina, maried Nancy Davis, 28 Feb 1827 Boone Co., Missouri. They had the following children:

Note that there are spouses named Stice. Two Henrys but no Martha. My Coats came from NC after 1801 to KY and were there until after 1818 and maybe until about 1828 then moved to Boone Co., MO.

1810 Madison Co. KY Census includes Allin and Amos (Note Sp.) 1813 enlists in War 1812 @ Richmond, Madison Co., KY ( serves under Capt. James Dejarnett)
1818 son Amos born Lexington Co., KY
1820 Madison Co., KY Census
1824 Madison Co., KY tax list, not in 1825 tax list
1828 land is deeded to him in Boone Co. MO.
1830 Oct 17, Boone Co., MO, Estate Files, Vol 11, Allen & John Coats were purchasers at the sale of the estate and property and misc. items of Thomas Croswaite.
1831 Jan 12, Allen and Henry went to Cths. & had their brands recorded in Boone Co. Cths. By Clerk Warren W. Woodson

1850 Dec 12, Howard Co., MO, lost discharge papers - makes statement of fact to Justice of Peace Joseph Carey that he was in the war of 1812 for the purpose of obtaining bounty land.
1855 Apr 7, deeds land to son James Coats - no mention of Allen's wife
1855 Aug 20, applies for additional bounty land from Clerk of Boone Co., MO
1855 Nov, applies for additional bounty from govt.
1860 Boone Co., Rockyfork TWP on census, living with son James
1870 Boone Co., TWP # 50, Living with son Amos
1870 Newspaper article on Allen being 100 years old
1871 Jul 20, Hallsville, Boone Co. MO, Declaration for Pension. He receives pension.
1872 Allen dies at 102 Years.
Allen and Betsy had six children: John Harmon, Ann, Amos, Susanna, James & Sally.
It is believed that Allen had at least two brothers Henry and John and/orJames both of whom also went to Boone County Missouri.
I have been unable to find any information prior to the 1801 marriage. However, family tales believe that his father's name may have been Martin and that he may have died in a "Powder Mill Explosion" (gun powder) in Virginia.
