As my oldest known Coatney ancestor is actually a Courtney I have submitted a DNA sample to the Courtney family project. I am waiting on results from a couple of Courtney DNA donor's to see if there is a connection. However I believe this project will give contact information to direct connections irregardless of the surname spelling. Are there any other Coatney or Courtney males who would be interested in submitting DNA samples to prove connections? Female donor's will not work in this test.
A word of caution as this test made me think outside the family circle. This project could provide evidence of infidelity. Nobody would like to think that there mother, grandmother, great grandmother, etc were promiscuous but the DNA test results are 99% accurate.
Cost is close to one hundred bucks so be prepared going in.
If you talk about tearing down brick walls this is the way to do it!
I have been looking for a lot of years to connect to other Coatney's. This may be the way to do it. If there is interest contact me and I will send the information.
