Re: [COATNEY]
by Jewell Chandler Kennedy
Hello all
About the John Coatney , living with or working for his cousin in 1880
Fannin Co. Census . His Cousin John P . Price is my great grandfather, which
is where I am at a complete standstill on this line of research.
Can anyone tell me more about this John Coatney if he is J. Price's cousin
doesn't his mother have to be John Price's Aunt? (because of name
difference)
Years ago before I was smart enough to listen ,mom said that John Price's
parents were Andrew Price and Minerva or Minervy Smith. (Untill I found this
census I had no proof of this whatsoever , but Minerva is living with her
son in 1880 in Fannin Co. TX. Also I was told that Minerva's parents were
James Smith and Frances Brooks. I can find nothing on John Price or parents
anywhere census or other wise before 1880.
One of John Price's daughters Annie Minerva married a William Decater
Cotney (wonder if it is same name).I sure want to think so.
Since joining this list I have seen many Smith and Coatney connections. So
I am holding my breath and hope someone on the list can help .
Thanks

This is the only white John Coatney in Texas in 1880 census.
He's working for his cousin, John Price, again in Fannin County.
