Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
We have an updated version of the Coates DNA page up with all our latest
results at http://www.ancestrees.com/dna/family.html. Their are quite
a few improvements in the Marmaduke group, plus we have 2 more kits that
have been ordered. If anyone in the group has verified an older
ancestor than is listed, I can get that corrected fro you. Please let
me know. If we keep up on that including sources for your new proof, it
will significantly help us find our common ancestors in our cousin
groups. Linda Coate
Last summer we offered a pricing special that was the most successful offering of its kind in our company’s history.
Many project administrators strongly supported our recruitment efforts and both their projects and our database grew significantly.
This year we will offer an early summer special with an unparalleled promotional discount.
Offer summary:
• Y-DNA37+mtDNA for $119. (The regular project price is $248 – a reduction of more than 50%!!)
• The promotion will begin on June 9, 2009 and will end on June 24, 2009
• Kits ordered in this sale must be paid for by June 30, 2009
This is your new members’ opportunity to skip past the Y-DNA12 and Y-DNA25 tests and get the best Y-DNA Genealogical test on the market in addition to an mtDNA test for an extremely reduced price!
I should also mention that according to one of our competitors’ method of counting markers our 37-marker test could also be called a “41-marker test” as we do
test and report markers 464e, 464f, 464g, and DYS19b. Though we test them, it is very rare that individuals have results for these markers. Therefore, by
our conservative counting method, our competitor's “33-marker test” is actually a “29-marker test.” We mention this to make sure that you understand the difference
between these tests and are able to compare “apples to apples.”
So... I hope that with this promotion your project can gain many new members.
As always, that you for your continued support.

To the Coats researcher:

Query:
COATS-COATES. Mrs. Terry Coats (3566 Cordone Ct., Fort Worth, TX 76133)
seeks info of parents of Moses Butler COATS. He was born 19 Dec 1823 in
Newberry or Edgefield, SC. His parents said to be James & Jane COATS. I have
proven two of his brothers, William G, & James COATS. Was the Marmaduke COATS
who left Edgefield for Alabama the father of James?
[JRC-NOTE: It was not the Marmaduke who was son of Little John COATES.]

Can anyone help this researcher with her info?
Hello my name is Annette Coats Clark I have been researching my father's
side of the family and I found your website and I have noticed that none
of my relatives are on your list. My ggg grandfather was Moses Butler
Coats, born around 1823 in Newberry South Carolina and migrated to
Texas. He had 2 wifes, the 1st was Julia Brown and the 2nd was Frances
Johnson (Fanny). Any information you have on them would be appreciated.

We've had 2 more test kit improvements ordered and received back in 3
new results. Two of the continued to confirm an exact match to members
of their group. One is a new Coates group. Did you ever suspect that
our surname would have so many different origins? I'll be working on
getting these up next week when I'm off for summer break. Eventually I
hope that everyone has cousin matches to work with. Linda Coate, admin.
Thanks for all your work.
