There is a person descended from the following lineage that is very much
interested in finding his ancestor, Coleman Coates after he was
discharged from the Civil War in 1865. Does anyone in this group know
about he or his wife after that?
Jordan Coats, Sr. married Sentilla

Thanks, Linda Coate
P.S. We have another new DNA member that has joined our group. :)
What timing! That may be my line as well.
John plus Amy

We have another test kit back that I'll be getting up this week, plus we
have 2 more persons who've ordered tests. Way to go...... The new
kit that came back makes for 3 cousin lines that descend from John and
Amy Abernathy with all their Y-DNA matching. John if you remember is
one of the likely persons to be the son of Big John. Cooollll.
Thanks everyone. Linda Coate
Hi Linda: In looking at the kits on the website, I cannot find the kits
associated with William Coats of SC. His son, Reverand William Coats, migrated
to Callaway County and is the ancestor of Charlotte Coats and me. Can you
tell me where to find him (or his line) in the chart? Thanks!

The new DNA kits and the info I have on them are up at

at least oldest known ancestor appear as the top two groups of our DNA
chart this time. I'm still waiting to hear from a third person on
their oldest known ancestor. That kit number is at the bottom of our
DNA page currently. We have a Tennessee group growing well at this
point in time. Linda Coate

We have the results back from 3 new kits. One matches the Alex/James
group of Tennessee and Texas. The other two have 11 or 12 points
matching. I'll get up the results as soon as I get some info from

Linda, do you have the link to the public page for the Coats project at
FTDNA?
I'd like to see the results directly from the FTDNA pages...
