Two of James Ford and Jane Young Ford sons married into the Coats family
in Dade County, Georgia, and their daughter also married a Coats. I think
the one their daughter married was a cousin to the Coats girls that married
the the Ford boys. Betty in Ringgold

The only Young I have is Argin Jane Young, born 1833 in Georgia married in
1850 to James Ford in Talladega County, Alabama. James M. Ford was born in
Georgia. They were my GGGrandparents. They were in Randolph County in 1860,
can't find them in 1870. Jane Young, Ford was in Dade County, Georgia in
1880 as a widow.
There was other Youngs in Talladega, Alabama in 1850, but I can't find
anything to tie them in with my Jane. I think they are probable brothers and
one was probable her father. Thanks

In addition, two of John Bankston and Henrietta Coats children had the
middle name of Young. It may be that they descend from Sarah Leigh Young
who married a Henry Coats. But that is unproven at this point.
My Miller ancestors came from Dade County, GA near Rising Fawn... unique
place!

Does anyone have further information on this Coats lawsuit? There is no
record that the sale occurred; no record in the Court of Ordinary Minutes
only the following newspaper notice:
Published in the Monitor: (Wilkes County newspaper) 6 January 1810.
The abstract reads: Sheriff's Sale, Will be sold, on the first Tuesday in
June next, at the Court-house in Wilkes County... the following property
viz,
third para: Also, 80 acres of land in Wilkes County, on the waters of Rocky
creek, adjoining Thomas Terrell, William Jones and others, the same tract
whereon Asa Hoxey now lives, with the improvements thereon. The above
levied on by virtue of an execution, Joseph Clay & Co. against William
Coats, Nathaniel Coats, Zachariah Lamar, Howel Jarrett and John Bankston -
the property pointed out by Reuben Hill, esq.
Citation: Wilkes County (Washington), Georgia Newspaper Abstracts 1810-1815,
Vol. II, p. 25, p. 28.
FYI: Howell Jarrett was married to Jane Smiley Coats/Coates; he was also a
distributee and administrator along with Nicholas Jarrett (his brother) on
the estate settlement of William Coats. He was an administrator of Lesley
Coats estate. (I can furnish those records as soon as I get them
transcribed).
John Bankston was married to Henrietta Coats (Coates) and lived near the
Coats, Howell Jarrett, and Lawrence Bankston (likely his brother). John
Bankston and Henrietta Coats named some of their children: Howell Bankston,
Lesley Bankston, Peter Young Bankston, John Young Bankston, Henry Harrison
Bankston, Levi H. Bankston, JJohn Jacque Bankston, Cecelia Bankston.
My goal is to learn the relationships of those Coats members in Wilkes
County, GA and their parentage.

Does anyone have any information on A. David Coate who was married to a
Susan in the 1870 and 1880 census for Mercer Co., Ohio? He was born in
Ohio but his father was born in South Carolina. I'm trying to help a
new Coate link up into one of our trees. Thanks. Linda Coate
Was supposedly born abt.1892 Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts.??I cannot find a record of birth for Gerald . I can not find a census record of the family in 1900, 1910, 1920. Married Annie Elizabeth MORRISON b. abt 1898 ( a teacher) of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia marriage date unknown. They supposedly lived at 40 Central Avenue in Milton, Norfolk, Massachusetts in 1921.? Gerald supposedly died in Mocton, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada on March 16, 1921.? A request was sent to vital statistics in New Brunswick. There is no record of the death of Gerald in New Brunswick years 1920 through 1922.?
I cannot find a record of Annie Elizabeth MORRISON.
Above info was stated on adoption records of their daughter who was adopted by the Staveley family. This?daughter was born at the Codman Square Hospital in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
What I did find was that?a young COATES family and?an older?MORRISON family did live on the same street - Central Avenue in 1920. However, there is NO #40 Central Avenue, street numbers begin at 56.? I have checked immigration records, passenger records, and all databases on Rootsweb, Ancestry, Family Tree, Familysearch (LDS) and then just googled.
Am hoping that a member of the COATES family may remember relatives living in Cambridge, Boston or Milton Massachusetts area.

Hi Charlotte,
Good news on the new results. Are there any results for Notely or his
brother James' lines?
I've been copying your land records for Charles Coats as you suggested and
building my own pages. I just retired so I can spend all the time I want on
this. I created a summary of the transactions:
1757 bought 100 acres called Holding Spring
1761 sold 100 acres called Holding Spring
1761 bought 132 acres called Flints Grove
1768 sold 100 acres called Flints Grove
1772 sold 50 acres call Daniels Discovery
1778 sold 153 acres called Flint Grove
1778 sold 13 acres called Daniels Discovery
Charles sold more land than he bought so either there are more land records,
he inherited it, or he got it from his wife. With Montgomery County being
on the state border with Virginia, that state's records may hold some
valuable information. There no record of the sale of Holding Spring by
William Coats. One possibility could be that these Coats were Tories and
choose to flee.
