Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Hi Listers,
Hoping to contact any descendants of Cyril Coates b 1898 in South Shields

Hi James...are you in any of the DNA projects? Particularly the FTDNA
project? We have found that to be very useful here in the States...
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/coats/
Can you give us any counties for Cyril? Edinburgh, Scotland? Do you
know where in the USA they moved to?

Subject: Adding members from other labs
To: coats.genealogy(a)gmail.com, jwcoats(a)htc.net
To Coats group manager,
>From time to time we receive requests to allow people who have tested with
other labs to join Family Tree DNA Surname Projects. We have always
avoided adding results from other labs to our database because as a
question of results integrity, we wanted that all project members to be
tested with Family Tree DNA.
In discussing this subject with a few group administrators we settled on a
solution that was to their and our satisfaction: we agreed to offer our
12,25 and 37-marker at a below cost rate, so that we can allow those
individuals to get tested with us and join your Surname Projects. But this
will be offered for a limited time.
The individuals will fill in a LAB CONVERSION FORM found at
http://www.familytreedna.com/pdf/PROMO_GAP.pdf (this link is also at your
GAP), and send it back to our office for verification, so that we can
enter the order. Due to the fact that this is a below cost offer, we are
limiting the time during which it will be available. Those forms need to
be filled and returned to us by March 31, 2007. Should you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
As always, we thank you for your support.
E-mail anytime!

this probably more properly belongs in the VA. genealogy site, but I
am not a member so I'm posting it here. More on the UK DNA of Thomas
Jefferson... and why I find the whole subject of DNA so fascinating.

We have had a new Coats join our DNA project coming over via the
National Geographic project: Kit Number: N43043; he is a 12 marker
perfect match to some in the Wiley Coats group of North Carolina...
We hope he will soon tell us his family line back to his earliest
documented Coats ancestor...
Remember the more participants we have in the DNA project to more we
learn about our Coats ancestors!! See the link below to order your
kit, if you are a Coats, Coate, Coates, surnamed male...!!
