The year is 2150...
Holloween has come again, little ones, looking for trick 'r treats....
Family researchers taking one last look for that elusive ancestor.....the
Coate, Coates Coats family just hasn't had a very large group looking for
those ancestors...so they have more than the usual number of elusive
ancestors....
To make matters worse, the Coate, Coates, Coats family in 2150 has
daughtered out and there are no longer any male Coate, Coates, Coats for DNA
testing....what happened?
Well, in 2003, not enough Coate, Coates, Coats males submitted samples of
DNA for those daughtered out lines to document back to!!
So come on all you Male Coate, Coates, Coats...order your kit now!!
http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=A59642&special=True
The order form is in the middle of the above page!!
Happy Holloween....or should that be All Saints Day by 2150....

Charlotte,
Megan is not, as it turns out, a relative, but her father had apparently
just bought the property that incorporates the small graveyard and they
found the headstone.
She is going to be sending on some photographs to me, and since I don't have
the means to scan and send to you, I will try to get good copies made and
send to you via snailmail.
This is significant as before this discovery, all I had to go on for birth
and deathdates for my Ggg grandfather, Thomas Coats, were to be found in
Goodspeed's history of LCT.
Will wonders never cease. I had given up looking for that grave years ago
and had just written it off to too many years of neglect, etc.
This is all the more amazing as Megan is not even kin, but she took it upon
herself to start asking around and trying to find out who these people were.
Simply outstanding.
Larry

Hello,
I am looking for the parents of Jemima Coats/Coates who was born in Missour
and died in Oklahoma. Her parents were listed as being born in Kentucky on
several census records.
Jemima Coats/Coates married Oren Green in Monroe County, Iowa.
Thank you
Mary
Can anyone help this person find her Thomas J. Coats, b. 1802, d. abt 1876

Well, I've never seen a fire travel all the way to Lake Arrowhead ... but
it's about to sweep through, I do believe...too dry, too many bark beetles
and the fire is just sweeping down the sides of those pine covered sloops...
They just evacuated Big Bear area...just never heard of it going that
far....whew...San Bernardino has fires almost every year...but nothing like
this....
In San Diego it's gone down over the Mexican border....
The fires are believed to have been set by arsonists except the one in San
Diego, it by a lost hicker who set off a flare...
Who do you call!! Smokey the Bear!!

This from Vi, who is in Charlestong, SC...:) She took photos of the old St.
Philips Church, that is in the Coats cemetery photo album...there was only
one discernable Coats grave there, later in time...but most of the stones
she tells me were the old limestones, so very disfaced and many not
readable...
Thanks to Vi....
Linda...I note in here that Marm's son William married to Elizabeth Miles
went to OH...so that later William Coats m to Elizabeth who dies is? boy,
it's getting confusing again...might this be the William, Samuel and Henry
associated with Gent John and the Pembertsons?
I'm not looking at the pages and I don't recall if there was a William in
that group, but I think there was....

Hi Bakers: Sherry , who is a wonderful supporter of the Baker
DNA test, just got the results back from her second test on a Baker
relative. Baker was one mutation off on the 12 marker test from the
other Bakers in the large group of Baker matches. Then when you compare his
25 marker test to the other three in this group who have been tested, he is
five mutations off. We are not quite sure what this means, but we know that
he is closely related to Hubert Baker.

In talking to a cousin, Sherry found out that James W. Baker 1829 KY-1916 KY
was James Walter Baker. We feel quite sure now that the James W. Baker
1829-1916 was the illegitimate child of Vinnie Wood and James Walter Baker.
James Walter sometimes used the last name of Wood, but changed it to Baker
in later life. There have been four descendants tested of James Walter
Baker and they match this large group of Bakers.

If you have recently requested a join authorization for the Coate, Coates,
Coats DNA project and haven't hear from me...it's because the email
bounced....:)
I've added the order kit link to the DNA page at:
http://www.rootsquest.com/~coatsfar/coatsarchive/dna.htm
This will help to eliminate problems with emails bouncing and delays in
ordering kits etc...I just had a request for a join yesterday and when I
tried to send the link to order the kit the email bounced...so I hope the
person is on our list, because now you can go directly to the DNA page and
order the kit...this was another person that had a possible connection to
Big John...so that would be an interesting test...
If you have questions, please still contact me ...if I don't know the
answers, I can try to point you to the information or someone who might have
the answers....:) I've tried to link some of the more common answers to
questions on the DNA page...so that should help as well....

FTDNA is eliminating the delay...by providing a join on the group
page...bypassing the need to request a link from the group administrator....
This will cut down delays in ordering kits...you don't have to wait for the
