Hi
My grandfather said his grandparents or g-grandparents were "Lord and
Lady" Coates and were living in Australia from England. Now, we do not
know if he was just telling a yarn or was telling the truth (my
grandfather and I loved each other dearly, but died when I was around 5
or 6. He was a practical joker).
If you come across any Coates in Australia - I'd be most interested.
What I found about his father (Franklin Eikoff Coates - mother's maiden
name was Eikoff) was that he was born in London, Ontario, Canada. I
have been having a difficult time trying to get his birth certificate.
And now I have NO access to the internet - as usual a minor roadblock
that I hope will be soon fixed.
Thanks,
Carol Campana

Most of this info we had...but the info on Marshall Coats is new...he's buried in Hill Crest Cemetery in Fulton MO...

Charlotte:
I'm looking for info on my progenitor, Rhoda Coats, b. 29 Dec 1789 in SC.
According to info which I have verified, she married Joseph Rench in Miami
Co. Ohio on 27 Aug 1811. A family tree record says her father was William
Coats and mother was Elizabeth Miles. I have no record of other siblings.
Are you familiar with this line??
I read an article which told me that there was a William Coats associated
with Quakers in Newberry District SC who later migrated to Ohio, so I'm
wondering if this is her line.
If you or anyone else can help me out, it would be appreciated.
