Subject: [GALWAY] IRISH CHURCH RECORDS
As a free alternative or supplement to commissioning an expensive full study
to find records of our Irish Ancestors, I have acccumulated Irish Church
Records from my own research and from the research of many other generous
donors who have also contributed their records. I have formatted and
batched together and donated these records, over a couple of years to
Rootsweb, which provides free database server space to me and free access to
you, so that the information taken from these records, including many which
have never before been published by the LDS or anyone, can be accessed for
free.
The latest update, which occurred just last week, was an additonal new batch
of about 3,400 records. The total number of Baptisms and and Chruch records
of Marriages has now reached 9,511 which now puts the goal of 10,000 records
by the end of this year well within reach. The latest batch includes many
from County Galway and several generous Galway list members. Since the
index lately does not show counties, you have to look at the full record to
see the county. There are lots of Galway records among them, even though
the indexed ones are the original Tipperary and Limerick records. Please
take a look at this database; search all your surnames, and please spread
the word about this free access to a database of nearly 10,000 Irish Church
Records to other County lists you subscribe to. The site address is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurchrecords/index.html
ROOTSWEB'S IRISH CHURCH RECORDS DATABASE
They also may be accessed from other Rootsweb search sites, but I built this
one, which shows only the Irish Records and does not co-mingle them with
English or other United Kingdom records as Rootsweb sites do.
If you have any baptismal or marriage church records and you would like to
join in this effort to provide FREE access to thousands of Irish Church
Records, please note the link at the bottom of that page, on "How to donate
to this Database." It's all about people sharing and helping each other.
Enjoy,
Tony Riordan

This is all the Coate/Coates/Coats info found in the NJ Calendar of Wills vol 1-3
These wills are all in alpha order in these books...and at least one Coats will in the book was not listed in the index...I've forgotten which one off hand...but as usual none of these are perfect...and remember these are abstracts of these wills...with this info I will try and see if I can get copies of the original records from the FHC ...

Subject: Re: Jacob and Isaac COAT(E) chr. 1703 CURRY RIVEL
Greetings Charlotte!
As the subject line says the twins were christened in 1703 in Curry Rivel. One of Jacob's children, John COAT(E) may have married Betty SHERRAD (daughter of Isaac abd Angel SHERRAD) in Muchelney in 1769. My John COAT did marry Betty SHERRAD, but is he the son of Jacob? The twins parents were William and Elizabeth (nee ???) COAT(E). I have no definite connection between my John COAT, except by process of elimination of all John COAT(E) christenings c. 1740 and what happened to them .
Do you have any further information or know someone who might? I thank you for any help you can give.

Does anyone out there have any information about these twins' ancestry and what happenned to them? I know that their father was William Coate (christened in Drayton?) and the twins had several siblings. I know Jacob married but have no record of Isaac marrying. Jacob had at least 3 children one of which may be my g g g g grandfather, John COAT(E).
Here's hoping!

I don't know if you noticed it or not but the other day on one of the
websites said something about a petition signed by a Gabriel Cote who
petitioned the King of Spain about appointing a certain individual as
Governor of Spanish Illinois etc. This Gabriel Cote was a resident of St.
Charles Parish in Louisiana and signed this Petition on July 12- in 1793. I
have gotten copies of the document and verified the name Gabriel Cote as
legitimate. Unfortunately there is nothing more said about him in document.
I tried all the online records of St. Charles, La. to no avail...Now-- where
do I look for anything which will show me the residents etc. of St. Charles

The Memorial of Sundry Citizens of the Mississippi Territory respectfully

That your memorialists taking it for granted, that it is not the policy or
wish of a Just and wise government to Speculate on, or profit by the
misfortunes of its citizens, and believing as we do, that the Government of
the United States is founded in Justice and wisdom and Confidently relying on
the Just and liberal disposition of your Honorable bodies, Your memorialists
have presumed to memorialize your Honorable bodies one the subject of much
interest and importance to them, And beg leave to state that many tracts
ofLand on which the purchasers have failed to make the final payments have
been offered at public sale for the ballance due to the United States, and
have not since been sold, but now remain the property of the United
States.--Your memorialists further beg leave to state to your honorable
bodies, that recently many citizens of this Territory have, from the peculiar
situation of this section of the United States at present invaded by the
Enemy, and the great scarcity of specie, been unable to make the final
payment due to the United States on the tracts of Land purchased by them, and
are now forfeited and liable to be offered at public sale.--Your memorialists
Therefore pay your Honorable bodies to pass a law authorising the Claimants,
their assignees or other legal Representatives of such tracts as have
reverted to the United States and not been sold to re-enter them and that the
sums of money heretofore paid on them respectivly be passed to the credit of
the purchasers, their assignees or other legal representatives and that the
Usual or other reasonable indulgence be given for completing the payments
thereon---and that the time for completing the payments on those tracts which
have not been offered at public sale be extended so as to allow a reasonable
indulgence for their completion on such terms as your Honorable bodies may in
your Wisdom deem Just.--Your memorailists are well aware that your Honorable
bodies have, heretofore, been frequently memoralized on this subject from our
Territory, and nothing but the hardness of the times and our distressed
situation could have induced us again to have troubled your Honorable bodies
on the subject,--Your memorialists can not however refrain from thinking
their case hard indeed, many of us having Volunteered in the service of the
United States for its defense, and altho’ the love of our Country was the
moving cause Yet we had hoped that the pay for our sevices would aid us in
making the payment to the United States for our Lands, but we are paid off in
Bills on the Banks in New Orleans which are refused in payment for our Lands.
and since the City of New Orleans has been in danger of being invaded by the

Char; This John Alexander was the brother of my great-grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Coats.
They were two of the sons of John Webster Coats of Meridian, Ms. John Webster was the first
born son of James Robert Coats of Meridian. John Alexander went to Texas (WTT), when his
mother died, and his father married a girl much younger than himself. John Alexander was a
Commisioner of Callahan County at one time, and is mentioned in some of the history books of
that period. I have much information on these families.

Subject: Coate's Curry Rivel
Greetings again!
I know I have contacted you before about my COATE family. I think
originally I may have only known about the district Yeovil.
HOWEVER, now I know my COATE mob can be traced back through LONG LOAD to
MUCHELNEY (John and Betty Coat(e)) and, this I am unsure about and the
reason for trying to contact you again, to twins born to a William &
Elizabeth COATE in CURRY RIVEL in 1703-Isaac and Jacob.
Do you have any information on the twins both in terms of descendant and
acncestors?
I look forward to your advice in the search for my mother's ancestors.

I agree, except that bin Laden's is not the ONLY network, and the President
has essentially targeted every terrorist network/nation state that is even
indirectly related(or at least this is my interpretation). So, finding and
eradicating these cockroaches will take considerable time and effort. And,
as with ordinary cockroaches, one can either choose to burn down the house
or just spray in the dark corners. I think that we should be careful as to
who we are "spraying".
In my estimate, the smart solution involves introducing bin Laden and
Company to terrorism...that is, make them lose sleep wondering where we are,
what we have, and what we know. Make them worry about whether the next
Afghan they meet is a CIA operative. Make them so rattled that they will
start suspecting each other. Make them afraid of the dark and every little
sound that the dark contains. And make them even more afraid when they
can't hear anything. That is the essence of terror; massive bombardment has
its place, but giving them a taste of the terror they've been
dispensing...that is the real solution.
IMHO.

Yes, I think this will be part of the solution...I think this is where the *more human intelligence* comes into play....
