Subject: Coates Deeds, Bedford County, TN
In process of researching my husband's maternal line (Coates). I have traced
them back to David Coates who was born in Tennessee and believe him to be the
son of a Benjamin Coates b. about 1779 in Virginia. Both eventually moved to
Gallatin Co., Illinois by the 1840's. Do you know of anyone that has done
research on Benjamin Coates whose deeds (perhaps) are in your listing.
Appreciate any leads as would like to share information. Thanks for your
help.

Does any of my "COATES" cousins, connected to Leslie COATES b: 1747 in Richmond,VA. d: 5 - November -1810 in Wilkes County,GA. m: Drucella .....have any information on his mother Sarah Leigh YOUNG from Scotland?
Leslie had a brother Nathaniel, and I think also Henry..I'm just starting back on this family line,so..I have to look things up to refresh my memory..
I have their parents as Henry COATES b: 1720 m: Abt. 1745 in Virginia..I'm still trying to connect to Thomas and Beulah JAQUES..as Leslie's grandchild was name John Jaques BANKSTON, and it's documented in Edna Vachers BANKSTON book, written back in the 40's that Leslie COATES family were descendants of Thomas COATES and Beulah JAQUES..of PA.
If anyone can help on this line,I'd appreciate it! Thanks,Nancy
Dear List.
Where are all the Palmyra Coates, SURELY they didn't all die out, please if

Now before anyone gets up in arms over this posting, please note, I will only
post it once. So if it does not concern you, please delete it and let it go.
On Oct. 7 & 8, at Camp Allen near Navasota, Tx. We had our annual Christopher
Reunion. We have been having this reunion for 15 years, and this year, in
spite of pouring rain most of the time, it was the best one yet. The reason
was that we had new cousins coming from contact on these family lines, and it
was wonderful.
Now, to the point of my posting. We are endeavering to reach out to as
many people as possible for next year. The accomadations are great, (and
cheap, thanks to relatives who work for Camp Allen) There is good food. We
stay overnight in the huge cabins. Ours had five huge bedrooms, most rooms
slept about 4-6 people, There was a kitchen, a bath in every bedroom and a
spare in the hallway. (O>K>) be patient I am getting there.
So, to descendants of Big John Coats, Wright Coats, Daniel Polignac
Coats, etc. or if you are decended from John Christopher and Nancy Ussery, or
the Fughams who came to Texas when it was a republic, Usserys and Pettuses
please contact me and let me put you on a mailing list. And mark your
calendar for next year, even if you don't think you can come. You might
change your mind.

I made some interesting discoveries today in the Newberry County SC deeds..these deeds are different than the ones in the LDS miscellaneous court record group...so if you're researching SC keep that in mind...
In 1779, Book B, p. 255, Henry Rugheley to John Coats of Scotch Creek - 100 acres on Bush Creek, adjoining Robert Ball but it is blurred...also 150 acres - originally surveyed for Samuel Chapman, also on Bush River adjoining Benjamin Alkins, Hugh Creighton and Giles Chapman...also 107 acres - originally granted to Giles Chapman - this deed was recorded in 1793 and witnessed by James Coate & John Williamson....(char's note: this deed conveyed three different pieces of land)
I also found the 1765 deed of Henry Coate purchased from John Brooks, this was John Brooks original grant of 1758...these are lease and release formed deeds...looks like two deeds but they worked together...not sure exactly how but it's only one transaction...anyway, not only was that deed here but it contains 3 pages...I've not extracted all of them yet but will..the very next deed from this was from a John Coats/Coate, selling the same piece of land - John Brooks' 1758 grant and next was John Coate, wife Susannah selling the same piece of land to Peter Buffington...the same 1758 grant of John Brooks...
This 1765 deed of Henry is the deed that was also witnessed by William Coate and James Coate and it is on Scotch Creek as well...

Hello,
I live in St. Louis, Missouri and saw on the local news tonight that there
is a BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK - 1843 - 1963 ( North St. Louis) that is
looking
for persons with family buried there. The airport is being expanded and
they
are going to move the CEMETERY.
Is there a way to get this message to as many listers as possible in a

Can you help!

Sorry, folks but I'm not able to contact Bob in Den directly, but wanted to let him know, as well as the others on the list, that I'm getting his emails but they are coming with an attachment...and I'm using MSN Explorer Beta...I'm a glutton for new things...<g>..anyway, for some reason it will not let me cut and past info into emails...
So if you send me somthing and it comes to me as an attachment to the email...I can read it but can't forward it to the list, since rootsweb will not accept attachments...and I can cut it from the message but I can't paste it into a new message to send to the list...hope all this makes sense..
Sorry...Technology is limited...<g>...
