Linda,
Just a thought about these folks. We know Little John's son Marmaduke
first married his first cousin Mary Coate, daughter of James Coate of
Edgefield. (James was married to Elizabeth Scott.) So this James would be
the brother of Little John. Right? Are there other James' that lived in
Edgefield Dist.? Kay
>There is a very interesting deed in Edgefield District, (Newberry Co.), SC

unable to assist you in your request....

Sherman burned the Chesterfield County Courthouse in 1865. Therefore we
have no records prior to that time...

war....)
SC County:
We do not research....
Charleston SC Register Mesne Conveyance:
This office has received your request for information. Please note that
the RMC office does not have the staff or expertise to do historical
research work...then refers me to the SC Archive and a Robert P.
Stockton, 95 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC 29401...a searcher?
(does anyone know if all counties have a county archive...?)
? County SC:
Our county was not formed until 1908. Records prior to that date would
be found in Orangeburg County. However, those records prior to 1860
were burned by Gen. Sherman in his infamous march through the south....

from the office of the county clerk...
Give the grantees name or the grantors name, approxmate year the
property was purchased and $54.00...
Ocean county began in 1850. We would have records from 1850 to 1857 for
the names you requested, if they bought or sold property during that
time. Records before 1850 would probatly be in Mommouth County. we do
not have a copy of the indexes that you can purchase. They are
available to the public to view. Another problem is that the indexes
are also broken down by owner/sellors first name, as well as the last
name and the date the document was recorded. In other words, the
indexes are broken down into 18 sections that could list the names you
want, plus there are two indexes, grantee and grantor. This would
require at least 36 copies if the names are only on one page at $1.50
per copy. ($54.00)
Copies of these indexes will only tell you the name of the buyer, the
name of the grantor the date the deed was recorded, the deed book and
page and in these older indexes it list the township/borough the
property was in, it is not a copy of the deed.
I'm forwarding your memo to the Ocean County Surrogates Office so they
can advise you about probate records.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (732) 929-2053. Thank
you, Kim, deed Rm...
Nice letter....I think Ocean might be too far north for our purposes or
our dates...any comments...?

Probate court...in reference to the above captioned I have been unable
to locate any of the above in the index books for our county. I have
checked for the various spellings and our records begin in 1883. Any
records before that time are more than likely in the Archives in
Columbia, SC...
I also sent a letter to Gilford County NC but not sure this is from
them...the letter suffered from the same problem as above...but they
sent me back an index of "C" that does not show any Coats in it...from
1798 to 1905....Charlotte

...There is no evidence in our archives of anyone by the name of Coats
residing in our county prior to 1860....By 1860 a man of that name had
settled here and established the name in our region. We have some brief
biographical material on that family, up to the present. In the event
you are interested, we can quote prices for copying the file...we doubt
that you will find any records in the original 13 states that date back
to 1566. For South Carolina records of that ear, we suggest you contact
the Spanish Archives in Madrid...

Lehigh County PA:
We do not have records listed by sir name only. In order for you to
research from the Register of Wills office, you need first and last
names, and they also had to probate a will or paid taxes from the
Estate...
Georgetown County SC:
Register of Deeds....
...we do not have any information beyond the years of approx 1865-66....
NJ or PA County:
from the Registers Rm 130....Land records are deeds and mortgages and
probate records are Surrogate Court, Rm 206. We do not have these
records in county clerk's office...
Montgomery County PA:
OUr records start 1784 and we need first names. There is a $15.00
search charge and you should only request a few full names at a time
since we do not have a genealogy clerk....
Fairfield County SC:
sent a copy of the marriages implied from probate records...which have
already been posted...John Coats m Henson, daughter of Robert

Of late, I have been actively reporting all SPAM back to the postmasters
where they originated. I turn on the rcih or full header option on my
e-mail, look for all server addresses and then forward mail to the
"PostMaster" at those sites. It works! I know my own spam traffic has
decreased of late. These guys sniff your addresses from the net if you
post anything.
HOTMAIL has a great overview of how to deal with this. I've forwarded it
below. It's typical of most Internet Service Providers (ISPs). I also
copy postmaster(a)rootsweb.com if it comes through a list.
good luck,

Thank you for emailing Hotmail Policy Enforcement (Abuse). The
Hotmail Terms of Service (TOS) forbids email abuse, and we strictly
enforce the TOS.
We also employ tough unsolicited bulk email (aka "spam")
counter-measures:
1. We LIMIT the number of individual recipients allowed per each email
message, making Hotmail ineffective for sending "spam."
2. We do not allow numeric characters at the beginning of an email
address. Any Hotmail Login Name beginning with a NUMERIC character is a
forgery.
3. We include the field "X-Originating-IP: [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]" in the
header of each email message that is delivered via our system. If an
email message doesn't contain this field in its full headers, it DID
NOT come from Hotmail.
4. We maintain a FULL login IP history for each Hotmail account.
5. We BLOCK our relay hosts so "spammers" can't use them.
6. We have been successful in taking action against senders of
unsolicited bulk email who forge Hotmail addresses.
If you are writing to report unwanted, abusive, or fraudulent email,
please note that you MUST include the full, unedited content of the
email message in question, along with the full, unedited message
headers. Email programs often display short headers. To display the
full headers, please consult your email program's help system.
If you are reporting abuse from a non-email source, such as ICQ, chat,
or Usenet, you must include the following information in your message:
1. The media involved (chat, ICQ, Usenet, etc.)
2. The Hotmail account involved
3. The content of the offensive or unsolicited message
4. Any user information
We will reply to you regarding your concern as soon as possible.
You may also reach the Department of Policy Enforcement by telephone at
(1)(408) 222-7011 Monday-Friday from 8a.m. to 6p.m. Pacific time.
The Hotmail Department of Policy Enforcement is dedicated to
eradicating spam, one villain at a time.

no BS this is the real THING free for a week!
My partner and I have been building this site for over 3 years and collecting all the pictures and movies we could lay our hands on...We have ton and tons of CELEBRITIES !!! Also amatuer stuff I took some of it myself (YOUNG GIRLS ! 18 & 19 yr olds) Gigs of video and porn Stars I'm talking over ten gigs (COMPARES WITH THE LARGEST ON THE NET !) We have taken 4 gigantic web sites and merged them into ONE SUPER SITE ...every Fetish, KINK, feature including but not limited too Blondes, Brunettes, Fire heads...BSDM...Showers all kinds and too much more to list here just go there I promise you won't be dissapointed!!

---
I think spamming on the net is pretty easy...if you have an address like
at rootsweb and know how these mailing lists work, I think it's pretty
easy to do a whole list...and we have the addresses for all the mailing
lists up at rootsweb...so one post sends to all...
I think the difficulty is finding out who does it...I guess some of the
return address are like blind addresses or something...so they are
difficult to find...any one out there more technologically advanced that
I am...?
I'm sure rootsweb will do all they can...they seem to be pretty good at
discouraging this type of thing...

Charlotte, noted your post and was curious about your name. One of gg
grandfathers was George Coats McRobert. His mother was supposedly a
Coats
(related to the Coats of Coats & Clarke) but I have met with a total

family
info you could share? Many thanks.

Joe...yes, would like to compare info...hmmmm...did you see the info I
posted to the list in reference to the deed record info available for
Chester County SC...Kershaw county use to be part of Craven County so
even though you found these names in the Kershaw County Census there
maybe other records in other surrounding counties when Craven County was
divided up...at any rate, did you see the SC maps in the Coats
Archive...that might help...or they may have moved from other counties
in SC to Kershaw county...or these may be the kids of others in Craven
District that moved to other areas at a later time and then it became
Kershaw county...or Camden District...there were several boundary
changes in SC in this area before the modern counties were
formed...there are also several really good maps in the SC USGenWeb
project that will give you an idea of how the counties changed over
time...
Hmmmmm...so they're not Sion's kids...well, how about Joseph...and there
is a Charles floating around this area as well and also David who I
believe witnessed some of Joseph's War Records...

P.S. I've got Sion's Will but don't have a scanner; you want a
photocopy
snail mail; there's no Gabriel on it I've checked every angle I can
think of
on Sion. The only other child that was in Sion's family and not listed
on
his Will was the one born shortly after he married Sarah Perry, his 2nd
wife. She was the young widow of Old man Benjamin Perry; when he died
she
married Sion shortly thereafter and was pregnant at the time they were
married. I believe they named him Josiah(joseph) if I remember
correctly. If
you want sources I'll have to dig them out- I have them all in my files
from
last year.
