Hi Brigitte
Cardiff, Wales it is!
Grandmother was Violet Coakley, born Cardiff 1888 to John Henry Wolfe
Cakley, Boilerman journeyman, poss born 1857, don't know where, and
Annie Condren born 21 April 1862 in Cardiff. John's parents were
Jeremiah Coakley, a Gas Fitter, and Mary Ann Wolfe - we have no
information about them, but presume records for them, and possibly
their son would be in Cork. From the Baptismal records in Cardiff we
have 6 children to this couple, but no record of a baptism for John,
but do have a birth certificate.Annie's father was a Master Mariner,
John Condren born before 1831, her mother was Jane Newton. I
understand that Condren is also a name found in Cork.
Any help gratefully received!

Hello, Patricia,
Welcome! I am assuming you mean Cardiff, Wales? There are Cardiffs
in California, Australia and a number of other places. If you have
any other names or dates, such as your grandmother's first name and
date of birth, that would give others a better chance to help you.
Any other surnames would help, too; I'm assuming Wolfe is not a surname.
I found a Daniel Coakley, born 1856 in Cardiff whose mother, Mary Ann
Coakley, was born in Carlow, Ireland. I also see that there are a
number of Coakleys, such as John H. Coakley born 1858 in Cardiff,
Glamorgan, Wales. But without more information it would be hard to
begin.
As they always say, start with what you know.

A quick email to introduce myself. My grandmother was a Coakley, born
in Cardiff, her father had the 3rd name of Wolfe, after his mother. We
think they originated in Cork, but have no proof. I understand that
these are names commonly found in C Cork. Any advice as to finding
more details gratefully received.
