I am trying to trace a Tobias Coady born around 1795 in Kilkenny. He married Eleanor (Ellen) Collins around 1806. They were both servants. She was convicted of theft from her master and was sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia. There may have been a child - Anne?? When in prison, awaiting transportation, she gave birth to a son, Patrick, on St Patrick's Day 1816. Baby Patrick went to Sydney with his mother. There she met and married Edmund Buckley in 1818 and he became Patrick's stepfather. Patrick then became known as Patrick Coady Buckley. Patrick went on to be a very wealthy landowner in Victoria Australia, and when he died intestate in 1872 a huge search was undergone in Ireland and USA and Australia for relatives to share in the fortune. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? I am writing a book about the area where Patrick had his property.

My great grandfather William F Coady was born around 1804 and came to America, we believe first to Canada and then to the US, Georgia in particular with an aunt. He married Rocelia Kirkland in Georgia in 1847 and had many, many children. Around 1852 he went back to Ireland to find relations and all were gone. Anyhow, we believe he traveled with John and Catherine from New Brunswick to New York and on to Georgia in 1825. Please, if someone would take a look at my tree SHETLINE-COADY, I would appreciate any helpful information.
