Hi John, I too have come across John Coady b1867 in Urlingford and his military records which states his mother as Mary and his father as Edward & wondered if he belongs to me as most Coadys from Urlingford & Fennor do?
My GGrandfather Richard Coady born 1870 in Urlingford his Father was Edmond aka Edward. I suspect Edmonds wife was called Mary & also that Richard had a brother Patrick b1899 Urlingford, theres bound to be more siblings too.
I have some Coadys that went to America mainly NY which Im struggling with. Until I visit Urlingford again in early 2010 this is as far back as I have got with my Coadys c1850.
Have you browsed my tree? Regards Patzy C UK

Hi, there is a story that my Grandfather went to the USA to live with his Aunt. I assume a sister of Mary Coady. We believe it was to Philidelphia or certainly the eastern seaboard between Philli and New York,in approx 1885-1899??. The story goes that he found life in the US harder than Ireland and therefore returned to Kilkenny.

John,
Did your Coadys come to North America? If so, when and where?

Hi, my grandfather was John Coady born Kilkenny 1885, mother Mary Coady who was in service at the time and unmarried. I have details from 1885 forward but not prior.
The male members of the family tended to join the Royal Irish Regiment based in Clonmel at the Kickham Barracks.I do suspect that Mary Coady had a number of siblings. There was a John Coady of Urlingford ,Kilkenny born approx 1867.Not sure of any direct connection. Would appreciate any information. regards
