I have a Richard Coady in my family tree, born 5 October 1890 in Fethard, Tipperary. I haven't been working on his descendants but his parents were Michael Coady (Cody) who married Ellen Power in Powerstown RC church May 1879 (Parish just north of Clonmel).
He is the second Richard born into the family as the first Richard was born in Dec 1888 and died in March 1890 in Red city, Fethard.
Perhaps there's a link?
Cheers
Philippa

Hi,
I'm looking for any information available concerning Tobias Coady of PEI. I believe the more specific area in PEI is called Hazelbrook (a.k.a. Lot 48 & 49).
Tobias' second son, Tobias Jr., was born in 1851 and died in 1929. His first wife was Catherine Acorn, b. 1851 and d. 1895. His second wife was Margaret Driscoll (b. 1854).
Tobias Jr. had a son William T. (Tobias?) who was born in 1879 and died in 1964. William T. is my great-grandfather.
If you have any information you're willing to share, I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to trace my Coady roots back to whenever the first generation landed in Canada.
Thanks in advance!
Mark

Hi Jim,
Do you have any more information from the 1891 census where you listed the family of Patrick and Alice? There's a Suzanna (Susanna) listed there who is the right age (89 yrs old in 1891) to be connected to Tobias Coady. I think they wed around 1820 and that Suzanna's maiden name was Pernell (or Parnell or Penal). I believe I am a descendant of Tobias (he would be my great-great-great grandfather).
Thanks in advance for any information you can share!
Mark

Hi,
I've since learned a fair bit more about these brothers. I'm still trying to connect them with Tobias Coady, my great-great-grandfather, to no avail so far anyway.
The brothers actually numbered 4, not 3. They settled in or near Margaree in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. There's actually a fair bit about them on Island Registry under the Coady family listing. I can send you a link if you have any trouble getting to the registry directly.
I've understood there to be a connection (somehow) to County Wexford, but I've also heard about similar connections to County Tipperary. Nothing in my information to confirm or deny either county though.
Thanks and sorry for not replying sooner (I lost touch with this thread somehow).
Mark

Hi Sandra,
Do you have any information about the 3 (actually 4) Coady brothers from Cape Breton? Do you have any information about a Tobias Coady who married a Susanna Pernell and settled in PEI?
Thanks,

Hi Andy,
Would you be willing to share the lineage information you have about the 3 brothers from Cape Breton you mentioned in this thread? I think I've seen you post on a similar topic on genealogy.com and would appreciate any information about these brothers you can share. I'm trying to link my family to these brothers (or confirm the link doesn't exist). I can trace my family back to a Tobias Coady b. ~1795 and I'm trying to confirm if there's any connection between Tobias and the Coady brothers of Cape Breton.
Thanks in advance!
Mark

I am just beginning to gather information on this family, and would love to share information. Mary Walsh Coady's parents were Patrick Henry Walsh and Bridget Brennan. I am connected through the Brennan's. Several of Patrick and Mary Coady's children were born in Ivesdale. Your post says they had 16 children, which may be correct, though my information said they had 17 - 6 sons, 8 daughters, and 3 children (sex not mentioned in my info.) who died in infancy. Do your records mention them?
