Philippa,
My g-g-grandfather, Laurence Coady, was born c. 1815
in County Kilkenny, Ireland, and immigrated to Prince
Edward Island, Canada, c. 1830. He died in 1897.
The line continues - his son, James A. Cody (b. 1842,
d. 1922), is my great-grandfather. His son, John
Edward Cody (Coady) (b. 1884, d. 1979), is my
grandfather, and his son, John James Coady (b. 1922,
d. 1985) is my father. The two spellings of the name
still appear in the family. I have cousins who spell
their name Cody.
I have been unable to locate the family in Kilkenny,
and that is the focus of my research.
Where did your family settle?
Best regards,
Jim Coady

Gordon,
Does your Coady family have any connection to Prince
Edward Island or to the surname Clansey (Clancey)?
Like many others, our family emigrated to Boston in
the 1920s.
Best regards,
Jim Coady
