Richard died in his thirties leaving his young family in difficulty.
The river is the Fal, and it was a significant impediment to commerce
between Penkivel and St Clements. Richard's father Peter was the ferryman
there, on a flat bottomed contrivance used largely for stock.
HORE - an unfortunate name that was probaby applied to her eldest daughter
Elizabeth who had six children COAD out of wedlock, to at least three
different men, and lived in a Truro street largely occupied by single
mothers. One of these children later changed his name to BOLDRY, probably
his father's name, and has living descendants.

Russ,
I'm sure others reading this List will be able to help you find the family of your Richard Coad, but he married Elizabeth Hore on 17 November 1805 in Kenwyn. He was a sojourner. Witnesses were Stephen Michell and T.G. Hicks. I think from memory that the last named was a witness to many marriages in the parish. The minister for Kenwyn at times covered the parish of Kea as well and often the same entries were in both parish records. I suspect this was the Richard and Elizabeth who had several children baptised in St. Michael Penkivell, which is nearby but on the other side of the Truro River. I'm unsure whether you have this information already.
I had the Will of Richard Coad dated 1774 because I assumed I was descended from the Feock Coads and had done some research on them, including buying wills to see if my direct ancestor Ann Coad c.1817 was mentioned, but having finally found her baptism in Feock, have now learnt that she was descended from the Coads in St. Stephens in Brannel.
Sue.
As discussed in a private message, the baptisms for the children of Peter Coad and Mary Behenna in Feock were -
Elizabeth - 1 May 1803
Mary - 4 February 1806
Richard - 1 May 1808 - burial aged 25 Feock on 13 March 1834
Thomas - 13 May 1810
William - 10 May 1812
Harriet - 21 December 1814 - burial aged 3 Feock on 2 June 1818
Harriet - 2 April 1820
John - 30 June 1822
Henry - 11 August 1825
Sue.
Well it goes the other way, COADE is a somewhat archaic but quite frequent
spelling variation of COAD.
Thanks for pointing this family out - I have just been writing a piece about
the Coads of the northern counties and missed these folks. In 1881 your Ada
is in Frank St Toxteth Park Lancs supposedly aged 11 with her siblings
George (16) Annie (13) and Caroline (10). They are with their aunt Jane
Harrison (51, unmarried) and they are all born in Liverpool.
Going back a little further I see they are the children of Richard Coade
and Adelaide Harrison, m Q2 1867. In the 1871 census Addy is called Annie,
and Richard is a ships carpenter from Hanover Germany aged 41 or 44 - so
your US Census are correct. He has changed his name from something or other
as there are no Coades in Germany - its a Cornish name. People loved
changing their name to Coad etc, and name changes are mostly hard to crack.
The actual names of their children appear to be Richard (Q1 1869, d Q3 1869)
Annie Laura (Q4 1870) Caroline (Q4 1871) Ada (Q3 1873) Adelaide (Q4 1876),
The mother Annie died Q4 1876, possibly in childbirth, age 34. Cant see the
death of Richard but he may be the one
The birth of George is missing so maybe he was from an earlier marriage
and/or called something else at birth
Ada's sister Caroline married a fireman called Charles P Crosby, and she was
living with them in 1891
I can possibly find out more - or send you a copy of the census originals

I don't find a board for Coade. So maybe Coad is a variation.
Ada Quirk was born 5/29/1873 in England, I think he maiden name was Coade. She married 1896 in Liverpool, England to John Richard Quirk. They had children Dorthea, Ethel and Harold. Then they immigrated to Canada in 1909, where they had children Edward and Grace Evelyn. In 1927 she, along with most of her kids, immigrated to Los Angeles, California. Her husband stayed in Canada. Story was that they were estranged, possibly divorced, and he was with another woman. I found Ada's naturalization paperwork, which is very detailed, and she is in the 1930 and 1940 census.
Who were her parents? Her siblings? Census says her dad was from Germany and her mom was from England.
I don't have the International membership, only the national. So I can't see Canada and England records.
Thanks!
