Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Of course, it goes without saying that as you go about with the reshuffling,
that you will offer up to all of us, the proofs and sources where you
obtained this information. In the past, you have connected "Robert Coad -
the convict" to one of my ancestors, but when I do a search on
Familysearch.org, for a Robert Coad -1814, I do not find any person of that
name in Cornwall. Is there such a person? Or is it another one of your
creations, to tell a good story?

Subject: [COAD] Structural error - Penkivel vs Robert the Convict and
Brennan
Once in a while we find an error in the Coad trees. If they involve
confusion between Brannel Coads and Truro Coads this is quite a pain
switching everything around. The last one was about 18 months ago, and
started us on a major journey of discovery with the Mineral Point Wisconsin
families . Thanks in part to a query on this list a few weeks ago - we have
found a new one.
We had a labourer Thomas Coad married to Ann Snell Truro 1839. They had six
children, he died 1850 in Penkivel age 34. She remarried an Irish soldier
Brennan in 1856, they emigrated to Australia 1857 on the Plantaganet. Who
was Thomas? We had him down as the young brother of Robert Coad the convict,
born 1814. I have always been uncomfortable, never looked right. Especially
as we also had this fellow dying 1834 in Kenwyn Workhouse, the year our only
convict Robert was transported. Seems like Robert had a good reason to steal
bags of coal, if that was the alternative,
Now we find out, in another family entirely, that the mariner Richard Coad
of Penkivel 1780 was in fact a customs officer. We can now place him in
Penzance custom house in 1817, the year before he died, having a youngest
son Thomas. It is this Thomas who married Ann Snell - the kids names are a
much better family match. Thomas' death in Penkivel should have given the
game away - except we couldnt link in Penzance till now, the Coads just
didnt go that far west.
Quite a bt of reshuffling to do!
