All deceased at this time except my Mother. Her Name: Joyce Lavinia Allen born 1925. Please reply to my email address: telehold at bigpond dott comm

I do have a Mona D Coad 1910 Moonta, daughter of John Leslie Coad and Ada F Bainbridge, who married an Albert J Allen in Moonta 1928. She is one of the Collingwood Coads (miners). Is she yours?

We have about 10 different lines of Coads in Australia. You will have to ask your mother what her COAD grandparents were called (the parents of her mother) and then we can probably work out the family.

My Mother grew up in Woodna ... Family name on her fathersw side was Allen. I can ask her more questions when I speak to her next .... I need to find out her mothers (my grandmothers) full name.

I refer to the Coad-Coode blog, which I guess one could regard as personal
but is not intended that way - anyone can contribute with stories or
pictures about the families or their historical environment and are
encouraged to do so.

I'm writing it up for the COAD book - and this has led me to do a lot of new research.
The Devon Coads etc have always been a real puzzle because on the one hand they are numerous in terms of surname variants, while on the other hand they have always been thin on the ground despite having been there since 1420. They have been extinct in Devon for 150 years, as far as we know, though descendants are scattered all over.
I have a new theory about the pre-1550 spread which makes sense to me at least, and can be proved or otherwise by DNA. It's in the blog

Still not attached Marty
Dont want to party poop but that tree not possible. Furthest back you can reliably go is John Code 1564-1612 of Breage , and his father William of Lansallos, who is your common ancestor with the Cornish family. Leaves a 200 year 8 generation gap. However they are almost certainly descended somehow from Richard Coode, Mayor of Liskeard in the 1360s. But NOT from the Coodes of Gidleigh and Morval (Chapter 2 of my book, 35 pages long!)
Plugging on with the book, have started Chapter 3, the Coodes of Cornwall. Up to 1525 already, only 400 years to go!
