Dear Angela
Were your husband's grandparents Joseph Walter Coad and Olive Stevens of
Plymouth? I'd like to fill in that branch of the family if you can assist.
Best wishes
Joe Flood

Joe, while you are in London, is it possible to find info on the marriage of John Coad to a Eliza Ann Boddy/Body? They would have been married somewhere between 1860 and 1868 in Cornwall. I have not been able to find any info on that in the Free BMD, but it's possible that it hasn't been transcribed yet.
Thanks, Russ Coad

Thanks for that. I have the following for Mary ean nee Coad on my "brannelcoads" rootsweb database and have incoporated your comments.
=====================
In fathers will 1785
John Caskey writes,
John Heayn left a will written in 1804 and probated in 1809 under the name John "Hayne" (he was apparently illiterate) in which he appoints Edward "Code" of the parish of Ladock, yeoman, as the guardian and trustee of John's son, James, if John's wife, Mary, should remarry. " This is clearly Edward of the many wives, and a strong indication that Mary was in fact his sister.
Mary emigrated with her youngest son, James Hean, and grandson, John Haynes Snell, to the USA in 1820 when she is described as age 67 years of age.

Sorry, beforehand, if you already have this information, but I am a Hean and according to my Aunt Millie Hean and information she sent me from a book titled, History of Edwards County, Illinois, James Hean (Hayne) married Mary Coad April 13, 1776, in Ruanlanihorne, Cornwall, England. My Aunt has visited there. James Hayne's will was probated January 8, 1809, in Ruanlanihorne. According to the book, James Hean along with his mother, Mary Coad Hean, and his cousin, John Snell, son of his sister, Mary (Hayne)Snell, left Plymouth, England on the ship Henry Clay and arrived at New Hampshire, Virginia, on 30 September, 1821. They settled in Albion, Edwards County, Illinois. The book states that James Hean probably came to America first and then went back to get his mother.
