Hi Phil;
Thanks for all info.
I also have a picture of William Wilton b 1826 taken on his way back from Colorado
in abt 1905 to Cornwall where he4 died. He stopped in Plymouth and had it taken
and sent to family. He had gone in abt 1887 to Colorado with Mary Parsons , his
2nd wife where she died in abt 1899 in Pueblo. I saw a copy of the funeral or
obit in a book in Salt Lake Lib. in 1995 and marked it to copy but didn't get it
copied. There also is a picture of Mary sitting
;on their porch in Sopris where they had lived for awhile.
Will share with anyone related.
Yes that would be nice for the tree to send as some info I didn't get to copy
before we got new comp. several yr's ago. We have a Dell 8300 with windows XP and
word.
Maxine and William A. Wilton. William will soon celebrate a 60th birthday 8 June
2008.

Hello,
I'm a new poster/member so forgive me if I don't know all the protocols.
I'm researching the John Henry Windels family of Brooklyn, NY.
Specifically I'm looking for information on his first wife, Pia Marg. Burkhardt (many different spellings are possible). I'm hoping to contact descendants of her children, Anna Windels (married William Bahrenburg), John Henry Windels (married Ethel) or Charles Martin Windels whom I believe died single and without children.
Pia is the sister of my great-great grandfather Frederick Burkardt. I've hit a dead end and was hoping to try a different route via Pia.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Amy
Up till now, all that the DNA study has shown is just what a diverse group the COADs are - the only matches we have had are between people who already knew they were cousins. But now for the first time we have a match between families who did not know they were related. We have a match between my own family, the Crowan Coades, and the Looe Coads, Ed and Nigel, who originate on the other side of Cornwall.
My own Coades descend from one of the smallest lineages, miners from Praze-an-Beeble in Crowan near Redruth Cornwall. They lived there without moving from at least 1696 to 1850, when they all packed up and left following the mine closures. The original ancestor was Samuel Coade, Code or Cood ~1670-1733 and his wife Grace, who married in Crowan in Jan 1695/6. I started the one-name study in the hope of locating Samuel's origins- but up till now, not a whisper from the standard sources. Because this line is so isolated and specialised it was a perfect subject for DNA .
When I started the DNA study I did a bulk mailout to try to locate the different Coad families in Australia. Somewhat later I specifically targetted my own cousins, who I believed to be in Victoria and Queensland. Sure enough - I was able to locate my Coade cousins only a few km away in Melbourne. My cousin Russell agreed to do a DNA test over a year ago, and finally got round to it in Feb. And Snap - we got the best possible result, a match with the Looe Coads!
Why is this the best result? Because we believe the Looes are the best candidates for being the modern descendants of the ancient Cornish family of CODE that lived around Liskeard from before 1300 - along with the Coodes of St Austell and the North Hill/Liskeard Coads. This is the first evidence we have had that some of the mining Coads of Truro are the same ancient family - probably via the Coodes of Stithians.
At last! We have removed some of the uncertainty and we can identify a unique and ancient Coad/Coode DNA signature in Cornwall and begin to work out why other Coad families have deviated from it.
If any of you know Coads originating in Cornwall who have not yet been tested - this should encourage you to try to get them to participate - as very soon I think we will find out what the Coads of Cornwall are all about!

Id like to welcome Sarah Hellyer to our list. Her ancestor is her g3gm Catherine Sandecombe, East Looe 1823-1915 (daughter of Ann Coad), who married three times.
I believe Ann is the daughter of John Coade/Elizabeth Bumard, who had an illegitimate son John 1812 Liskeard, then married John Sandecombe 1814 and had 5 children in Looe (Wesleyan). I think that makes Sarah a cousin of yours Nigel and Ed, if you'd like to check it out?
Joe
