Does anyone have any more info on Richard Coad. His home was Prince George Co. Maryland. Nancy Ann (king) Coode (Spouse: John Coode) was not married yet as of 1728. The source is from a "gift of Deed" recording in Prince George's County Maryland. It appears in a book by Elsie Greenup Jourdan, Title " The land Records of Prince George's county Maryland. 1726-1733' which were abstracted by her. We know that Wm King obtained the land 1724(land records). And that he is dead by 1727(land records and this gift of deed).
Liber M, Page 256
Enrolled at request of Eleanor King 7 Feb 1727:
>From Eleanor King, widow and relict of William King, dec'd, to
her children Constance, Ann, Mary and Elizabeth King; cattle and househeld goods;
/s/ Eleanor King (mark); wit. William Hare, Thomas Levin (mark), And. Tillman
This proves that their mother was Eleanor. And in the same area Timothy McNammara, and Michael McNammara appear.
Interesting since Nancy Ann Coode (Cude) named a son Timothy!
Rev.: John Coode of St. Mary's Co.: He bought "Second Thought", Prince Georges Co., 11/1/1701 (Settlers of MD, Coldham). He left this to his son Richard.
Our proof that Nancy was not married yet as of 1728. The source is from a "gift of Deed" recording in Prince George's County Maryland. Hi Vern,
Generation 3:
Mary Coad didn't marry George Wyndham. This man married Mary Ann Witherington, widow of _____Card (not Coad).
#4. Joseph Coad doesn't belong in the family of John Coad and Susanna Guibert. I've been working with Edward Allan on this family and I'm convinced this is a totally separate Coad line. I can find no connection between this line of Coads and the John Coad/Susanna Gerard family. They lived in totally different areas of the County. One line was Catholic and the other Protestant. I think the "Catholic Coads" are all going to tie into James Coad from around St. Inigoes.
This Joseph Coad married first, Eleanor Leigh and second, Ann Delahay.
Generation 4:
William Coad, son of Joseph Coad and Ann Delahay married Elizabeth RODMAN Smith. She was from Philadelphia and was the daughter of Richard Smith.

John Coode III-Death: BEF 16 JAN 1767 in St./ Mary's Co., MD Note: Estate was administered by Susannah Coode Guibert, his wife. It was recorded in MD Archives at 206:00:05. Next of kin listed were his brothers, James Coode and William Coode.
Resource: Proceedings of Orphan's Court of St. M. Co., Maryland1777-1801, pg 27.
For these two to be in the same line.
Note: The OC record of Dec 1794 records that John Coode (administrator of John Coode Decd) setting forth that the said deceased died considerably in debt and Exec. asks court for an order to sell personal property of deceased to discharge the same. In studying the time element involved with the Coode Family, it is my estimation that the deceased must have been John Coode # 4, and his administrator must have been his son.

Actually, the Irish Codd/Codes who immigrated to Canada in my family became Coads because of political differences in the family. The Codes were liberal and the Coads were conservatives. Can't vouch for other families, but that's what happened in mine. There are also differences because sometimes county clerks and census enumerators spelled them that way. People back then weren't often fussy about spellings, I've found.

There are a great many possibilities. Timothy was orphaned at about three years of age and never taught to read or write. The Cude spelling first appeared in 1800 and from there on it was hit and miss. I have to go where the records lead me. Allin De Cude Year: 1639 Place: Virginia Source Publication Code: 6220 Primary Immigrant: Allin De Cude, who arrived in Virginia around 1639. This is based on the record of his journey to Charles River Co. Virginia with Capt. Nicholas Martiau/Martian. This is the first record of my surname in America. Nicholas Martain is considered the father of York, Virginia. 1634 Charles River County was created. It was one of the eight original shires, similar to those in England. There is no record of any children from Allin De Cude. We have been told through out the generations that the spelling has been changed .The Coode, Coad, Code, Cud, Cood, Coody and Coady spellings show up in public records, from time to time in the early history of our fa!
mily. . Cude is a some what uncommon name in this country, that is often misspelled and mispronounced. Since there were in this country from the beginning. You would think there would be several thousands of them to day. There are, only the spellings are different.
By 1667 we have Henry Coode Year: 1667 Place: Maryland Source Publication Code: 8510 , Compiled from Records of Land Patents, 1633-1680, in the Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland. Baltimore: John Cude?(Cudd)--- Year: 1661 Place: Not Visible. Elizabeth CUDE (Cute)- Year: 1665 Place: Maryland --- Eliz Cude (Cuddy) Year: 1671 Place: Virginia .1685 ??? Cude? (Cudda) Year: 1697 Place: Virginia ---Mary Cude? (Cudd) Year: 1699 Place: Virginia-- Mary Cude? (Cudd) Year: 1716 Place: Virginia In 1701 we have a will for James ( Cude? ) Cudy. If he was born in 164? He would have been in his mid-fifties and the location is close. The Eastern Shore of Virginia is made up of two counties (Accomack and Northampton) located on the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula on the East Coast of the United States. Baltimore, MD (140 miles), Norfolk, VA (45 miles), Washington, D.C. (150 miles), and Richmond, VA (125 miles) .---- !
John Cood Year: 1701 Place: Maryland Source Publication Code: 1243 Primary Immigrant: Cood, John Annotation: Date and place of mention in land survey. County and name of land purchased are provided. Yes it's true that once they are a couple of generations out of the Old Place, they lose all connections and anything can happen. My argument does wipe out the alternative theory that Tim is a son of Edward Coode and Mary Speed/Pender in Cornwall (for which there is no proof at all) but not your argument re Col John..
Still - no smoke without fire and Tim must have got the CUDE spelling from somewhere.
Anyway - lets hope that some early info about Tim turns up somewhere to settle this argument. I'd be happy to welcome Tim's myriad descendants into the COODE fold if something concrete can be found!
