Anthony - There were about 100 slaves with the Coad name listed in the 1860
slave census in Maryland. In South Carolina the Cude spelling was more common.
Wow! Do we know the race of the slaves? or the country(ies) from which they
came? Where in Maryland and S.Carolina?

I have very little info to go on I'm looking for info on William Coad

I assume you might be related to the son born 1924 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
I've a brother, William Coad, born in 1931, in Missouri. My recollection of
my "research" (very limited) is that in that generation and the one before,
many names were, indeed, names of aunts and uncles. What's your connection to
the William COAD you're looking for?
Looking forward to hearing from you. Hope your new year is going well.
Sincerely,
Margaret (COAD) Cicirelli
