Hi all
I hope that you can help me. I live in Sydney Australia and am helping my father trace his family. We have managed to do all we can in Australia and now need to start searching in England. Here is where we are at a stand still:-
We are looking for information on
Samuel BRAY who married Sarah BRAY anywhere around 1808 - 1818
They had at least two children that we know of who are:-
James Bray parents Samuel & Sarah Bray
born 20/03/1818
chris 12/04/1818
Moved to Sydney and married Amelia Hudson on 23/03/1845
Charles Bray - parents Samuel Bray and Sarah
born 23/05/1820
bapt.02/07/1820 at ILSEWORTH LONDON
Any help would be very very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I can confirm from the CFHS transcriptions
Richard Coad M Ann Clemens 20 Jun 1816 St Ive
The Richard Coad born c 1821 is a little more difficult as there are no
records of a birth in 1821 but, the 1841 census rounded off adult ages to
the nearest 5yrs so Richard Coad b 16 July 1817 to Richard Coad and Ann at
St Germans might fit as being not too far away and could be right for their
first child.
Interestingly I was down in Cornwall over Easter and we visited a country
estate house, Lanhydrock, which had been rebuilt c 1850-60 by a Richard Coad
said to have been born in 1821 of Liskeard ( which could mean any of the
surrounding villages) He was at that time employed as an architect in London
and by the account given had been very famous, reponsible for many
buildings, the details of which I did not note.
He is not on the LDS 1881 census
Hope this is of some help

Doesn't ANYONE know the whereabouts of information of a Henry Lehn last presumed in the State of Washington, who married a Cora Orcutt? They had three children Irene, Ada, and Leland...whom all seem to have faded off the faces of the earth..I can't find a single census on them. Henry was the son of Fred Lehn and had sisters Maggie (Margaret) Kathryn (Katie who married my great grand,) and Emma Katherine. Please contact me at my email if you can even spring me a leak :) ((Sorry for using your listing...I don't know how to start a completely new listing from the beginning...Le))
Dear Listers
I know that there are a few of you out there who have COAD connections in
Cornwall at the relevant times and I hope someone may know something of the
family below - three Richard COADs, grandfather, father, son
I have cut down a much larger report to show the bare bones.
What I'd like to ask is:-
A) Does anyone know anything about the (3) Richard Coad ( 1821- ?) who is
described as "lately gone to America" in his father's will?
I haven't found him in any census after 1841 when he was with his parents.
B) Can anyone confirm a marriage between (2)Richard Coad and Ann Clemens? It
is in the online IGI but submitted by a member not coming from a register.
Thanks
Alison
(1) 1 Richard COAD
----------------------------------------
Birth: 1742, Menheniot, CON
Chr: 18 May 1742, Menheniot, CON
Father: John COAD (1693-1762)
Mother: Christian LYNE (1697-)
His father John left him 100 pounds.
Witnesses to marriage Francis Crocker, Samuel Braund, signed R Coad, X by
Mary
Spouse: Mary CROCKER
Chr: 28 Sep 1737, Menheniot, CON
Father: Francis CROCKER
Mother: Mary
Marr: 2 Jun 1763, Menheniot, CON
Children:Mary (1764-)
John (1766-)
George (1769-1842)
Christian (1772-)
Elizabeth (1774-)
Catherine (1776-)
Richard (1778-1856)
(2) 1.7 Richard COAD
----------------------------------------
Birth: 1778, St Cleer, CON
Chr: 15 Feb 1778, St Cleer, CON
Death: 17 May 1856
1841 census at Tremabe, farmer age 60, with Ann 60, Richard 20, 4 servants
1851 Census living with nephew (possibly great nephew) John b 1834 St Ive
Will proved 1856 mentions son Richard "lately gone to America"
Spouse: Ann
Death: bef 1856
An IGI entry - not from registers - suggests that Richard's wife is Ann
CLEMENS
Ann is recorded in 1841 census, but apparently not in 1851, and is not
mentioned in Richard's 1856 will.
Children: Richard (~1821-)
(3) 1.7.1 Richard COAD
----------------------------------------
Birth: abt 1821
With father in 1841 census, but not in 1851.
In father's 1856 will recorded him as ".. lately in America".
Thanks Nigel,
This information adds weight to my theory that the John
Coad that died in australia (1887 ) was indeed the son of John and
Priscilla.
If so then his son George married his Aunts daughter which would be a tad
strange.
However Georges discharge papers from the Australian Army in 1917 listed Ann
Whitlock nee Coad as next of kin so could be possible.
I havent checked to see if any of Georges children from his 1st marraige
were alive in 1917 but i have a feeling they all died young.
Thanks for all the information.
Regards
Trevor Whitlock
