Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Thanks for the email. There are some COADES around the area but the
difficulty is making a connection. I haven't been down to Cornwall for a
long time and searching for info from the 1600s needs to be done "on site"
as it were. The information is out there - it's just finding it that's the
problem !

I am descended from Edward COADE b abt 1660 pos in St Ives. Died 1716 St ives. He had two children that I know of Prudence COADE b 3 August 1684 and James COADE b 28 November 1686. Prudence was my GGGGGG grandmother and she married George FRY (sometimes transcribed as TRY) on 8 September 1707 in St Ives.
Any information on this branch of the family would be appreciated.
Dear Ed and Coad Listers:
I thought some of you might be interested in the following message.
For the Canadian Census of 1906 and subsequent censuses, the government promised at the time the census was taken that the details of replies would not be published. This of course did not suit genealogists and historians. I don't know on what grounds the challenge through the Supreme Court was fought but it was won for the census of 1906.
This message came to me through the Eontgen-L (Eastern Ontario Genealogical List).
Yours Truly:

This message is about the fight to get the 1911 Census released
unconditionally as opposed to a release with the conditions added on in the
current legislation before Parliament.
Most of you will not know that Lois Sparling is a genealogist and a lawyer
who spearheaded the successful Supreme Court battle to get the 1906 Census
released.
She volunteers her time and has now asked for some funds for costs.
This current court case should concern genealogists all across the country
as this legislation will have a dramatic effect on the release of all future
release of Canadian Census and the restricitons imposed on these release in
the current legislation

Message Board Post:
I have a George Coad listed as the husband of Cora Baker-as they are listed as the parents of Edna Westfall (bc1900)-I don't know if he was a stepfather, but it appears as such. Edna Westfall married William Thomas Large in 1923 at White Co., IL-the Larges lived near the county line between Edwards and White Counties in IL>do you know of this line?
I am new to the list and my query involves the CALKINS line. My ancestor (g grandfather) was an Edwin CALKINS b: ca 1863 in ILL and was the son of Dorus CALKINS b: ca 1846 in NY but all having lived in Wall Lake, Sac Co IA.
If I am looking at the right family line, Dorus CALKINS would have been the son of Abner CALKINS b: 12 Oct 1817 in Peru, NY.
Does anyone have information regarding Abner's descendants?
Thanks for any help you can give,
Michol COLGAN
I am a great grandson of Edwin Ernst Coad (b. June 1,
1862, Plymouth, Eng. - d. Jan. 22, 1950 W. Pittston, PA)
and Jane Owens Vaughan (b. July 6, 1867, Penterlyn,
Anglesey- d. June 9, 1954- W. Pittston, PA) and I was
wondering whether anyone has more information than
Elizabeth Coad Grady had put together in 1994.
Thanks,
