Re: John & Elizabeth COAD
This may be your John COAD b. 1801 in Perranarworthal. The middle child is
recorded with William as the father, but may have been misread or a
transcription error. Also notice the different spellings of COAD.
The records in the IGI for Perranarworthal are woefully incomplete. I could
not find the marriage for Walter & Peggy (Margaret?) COAD. One would need
someone on the British side of the pond to find additional info.
All the info below was gleaned from the LDS website www.familysearch.org

I also found what appears to be your John COAD above and some of the
baptisms for his children. The children born or married 1837 and after
generally do not appear in church records, but the certificates are
obtainable through various sources at the average cost of $15.00 U.S. for
those of us in the United States. However, you may be able to obtain them
for less in Canada.
Once again, I was unable to find the marriage for John & Elizabeth.

Nigel,
The John Herring Coad born in England came to the U.S. in the late 1800's.
He was my gg grandfather. His son Richard James Coad b. 1867 was the youngest
son who came to U.S. with John and Anne. That is why not in 1871 census.
Would appreciate any additional information. I will be in England Sept 17-22
on holiday and am meeting with Philp Poet of London who is a gg grandson of
John Herring Coad's sister.
Thanks for any additional information

There has been some correspondence about John Herring Coad. The name is
fairly unusual.
I do have a John Herring Coad b Northill 1834 F Samuel Coad M Charlotte
Herring. They are not my family but I do have all the Northill records and
can trace him back. The censuses have him moving to Calstock, just over the
river fom Tavistock, in the 1861 census. The 1871 shows the same man in
Calstock with wife Ann age 21 b Mary Tavy DEV and son William age 3weeks
They are not on the 1881 or 1891as far as I can see
Any good?
Write to me directly for further details if you wish

Your John Coad from Redruth didn't happen to be married to a Margery did he? I have a couple of John Coad's one emigrated to NZ in 1876 and his father disappeared into thin air (at the point in time anyway)!
Is anyone able to help with information about any of the family listed below?

I am trying to find information on a John Coad, born 1801, somewhere in
Cornwall. He was married to an Elizabeth (unknown maiden name), who was born
in 1806. According to the 1841 census, he resided in Perran Wharf and was an
Agricultural Labourer. At that time they had 9 children: Mary(b.1826),
Thomas (b.1828), Richard (b.1830), Jane (b.1833), Elizabeth (b.1834), Eliza
(b.1836), Robert (b.1837), George (b.1839), and Annie, my great grandmother,
born 1841, in Perranaworthal. Annie married John Olver (b.1840, Liskeard).
They had 4 children, Elizabeth Ann, my grandmother, (b. 14 Feb. 1863,
Perranawothal, married John Taylor in 1892 and emigrated to East Boston,
Massachusetts), John Henry(b. 1867, married Mary Jane Bailey), William
(b.1871, married Elizabeth Opie, and may have emigrated to Connecticut), and
Robert(b.1875, later emigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, and married Catherine
Whitehead).
Elizabeth Ann Olver and John Taylor had 5 children that survived to
adulthood, Albert, Bertha, Mildred, Frank, and Gilbert, my father(b. 1905,
died 1979).
Any information on the decendents/ancestors of this particular John Coad
would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jim Taylor
