I don't have a birthdate for any of Edgar's kids - reasonable assumption but
not sure of this - if Edgar married in 1918 and Barbara Jean is the sixth
child - a 1932 birthdate would be resaonable. That is also why I asked if
any other people tracing this tree might have more information -

Perhaps our good friends and Listers from the UK will be able to shed some
light on the subject.

The asking price was 16-19,000 pounds in 1979.

Dr. Bob and Beth Risch:
After having had the opportunity to look over your family report and
reviewing your e-mail messages, I have a few comments and observations.
The Ancestral File on LDS web site (FamilySearch.org) looks good but may
indeed not be the Bertha Nora COAD nee FOLLAND, correct family.
I found your Bertha in the SSDI (Social Security Death Index) as being born
4 Oct 1876 and the FOLLAND family in the LDS Ancestry records has a Clara
FOLLAND born in the same year. However, on the other hand, this could be the
correct family because the town of Merton, Devon, England (birth place for
this families children) and Dolton, Devon, England (birth place for your
Bertha Nora FOLLAND) are only about 5 miles apart.
I see no dates of birth in this Ancestral record, which leaves me to believe
that the submitter, who has unfortunately passed on, did not secure copies
of birth records from UK GRO (General Record Office).
Starting in 1837 UK birth, marriage and death records were submitted to the
State, i.e. government.
Prior to this date these records were keep by the Church(s).
Fortunately, the records for your COAD and FOLLAND families are available
through the UK GRO. Unfortunately, it takes time and money to get these
records.
One can start the search procedure at their local LDS FHC (Family History
Center). The use of FHC facilities and equipment is free, and there are
generally volunteers to help one get started.
If you have further questions or need additional help, let me know.
BTW - I found your Uncle Claude and Aunt Elizabeth (Lizzie) and family on
the 1920 U.S. Census.

Bob and Beth:
Congratulations on your connecting your COAD families and thank you for
keeping in the loop by sending me a copy of your Adis COAD family report.
I'm glad my tips on Family Tree Maker were of help.
A note for Bob, et. al.
Most of your message(s) would have been OK to post on the COAD surname List
forum. However, information of a personal nature such as addresses and birth
dates of living people are NOT the kind of info to post on a public forum.
Both you and Beth were correct in sending those messages to each other
privately.
Notice to all:
Please continue to post your to the COAD-L, as there may be another COAD
family who will recognize someone in your messages and make a connection.
Besides the COAD-L could use the traffic, it has been fairly quite this
year. Messages are the life-blood of this list.
