My husband's Clymer (now) was Klemmer, in the early records, (pre 1900,
especially) and they are may have immigrated from Switzerland, or German, but
they are German. all the same.
I have never seen any English Clymers. Where did you learn that?

My family now spells it Clymer but when you get back far enough in our
family tree, 1700's, it changes to Klemmer. We also had the George
Clymer tale in our family but as with most of us it was not so.

Well your Aunt wasn't alone in thinking signer George was a relative. I
cannot think of one Clymer who hasn't thought that. One thing I can
tell
you, the spelling C-l-y-m-e-r is English. The German and Swiss spelled
the
name K-l-e-m-m-e-r or C-l-e-m-m-e-r
or something other than Clymer. The signer George was of English
descent
and that explains a lot about his kinship to the German and Swiss, as it
isn't relationship.
Perhaps this will settle a troubling mind, I don't know.

Dick Martin,
I have no idea if you will ever read this. Josephine was my aunt. My
father
was her brother, Robert Joseph Clymer. Our Clymer family comes from
Zurich
Swizerland. I am afraid that Aunt Jo was on a wild goose chase with
George
the signer.
Would love to hear from you,
