Clymer is an English name and English spelling. Clemmer and Klemmer are German names and Germany spellings. Why the German Clemmers and Klemmers decided to attach the English spelling to their names, I don't know. It does make it confusing when everyone wants so greatly to make a connection to the famous signer, George Clymer. When doing research on your family, try to keep it straight what country your ancestors come from and you may realize the destinctions.

For the same time period, we have Abraham Clymer (1765-1846) m. to Magdalena Landis (1770-1846)-- and they lived in PA. His father was Heinrich Clemmer (1700-1791) from Rhine, Paletine, Germany, who immigrated to PA. His wife was Anna Maria Bitzer (1720 -1777) who was from PA. They had 7 children, but did not find a Samuel among them. The Clymers are a big family. Lots of luck.

Hello, I'm curious if George W who you named in this note, was married to Martha A Given.....and together they had children with first names of: Vance, Francis, Alvin, George H, and Carl H?? The name Vance made me ponder the connection?
If so I'd like to communicate and i don't have the names of George W Clymer's parents> And I'm wondering if you have this information. The George W in my family tree was born in 1854 in Linn, Co Oegon.
