Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
This is a recommendation I don't know much about and am leaving it up to each individual to decide if it is worth the download. It
is free
I know there are a lot of folks who don't like to share their GEDCOM's and don't want to post them because of piracy, because people
merge them and source information is lost, or any number of good and valid reason's. Progeny has come up with software that
permanently marks EVERY record of your GEDCOM with your authorship. I saw an announcement for it in Everton's on-line newsletter.
As a rule, Everton's doesn't tout something that isn't a quality product.
The new GEDmark program is available free on the Internet. Visit the Progeny Web site for more information:
www.progenysoftware.com/gedmark.html.
Have a good one, all!

Thanks to Judy White (judy(a)genealogysurnames.com) I am pleased to announce that a fantastic resource is now available online
www.accessgenealogy.com/lyttelton.htm
These are letters originating from FORT LOUDON during the period of 1756 - 1760-61 to Governor Lyttleton of South Carolina. The
historical data and genealogical information to be learned from these letters is fascinating. Fort Loudon was the fort built by the
British to act as a supply point for the Overhill Cherokee (of East Tennessee). Fort Loudon stood (stands) in what is now Monroe
County, Tennessee.
Anyone researching the Cherokee will be interested in reading these documents...if you really want to learn you will.
These letters came to me courtesy of the staff of Fort Loudon State Park and are well worth the time taken to read them.
Many thanks to Judy and her dedicated staff. BTW, access genealogy is a complete FREE site and available to everyone.

The email below is courtesty of Mr. Tom Kemp on the Roots-L mail list. It concerns corporate changes concerning what most of you
may know as ancestry.com and, the makers of the family tree maker program, Genealogy.com.
According to this report the companies My Family and Genealogy.com have merged. I don't think anyone will see any major changes in
the near future. Hopefully those changes will be improvements.
As some of you know, there is currently an agreement between Genealogy.com and the History Channel. Now A & E will begin seeing
input from My Family...which is a good thing.

NARA now has searchable databases online for researchers use. Not all, naturally, are there but there is a 'bunch of 'em".
I do believe you will want to bookmark this site.
Online access to a selection of nearly 50 million historic electronic records created by more than 20 federal agencies on a wide
range of topics;
the ability to search for records with the specific information that you seek;
important contextual information to help you understand the records better, including code lists, explanatory notes from NARA
archivists, and for some series or files in AAD, related documents.
