My Clyde ancestor was Susan, born probably around 1820 somewhere in Ulster, She was the probable daughter of a David Clyde (1781-1847) who is buried in the Old Town Burial Ground in Newburgh NY. They probably arrived in the US in about 1830. She married first to an Archibald Wiseman (1813-1853) in Newburgh in 1838, and second, as a widow, to a James McCord in 1860, both of whom were immigrants from Ulster. The last record I have for her is in the 1880 Census. In one of the 1800's censuses between 1860-1880, Susan and James are recorded as "McCoy." Her year of death and place of burial are unknown as of December 2009. I am a direct descendant of Susan and Archibald.

The name Clyde refers to anyone who lived along the Clyde River in Scotland. In my case, we bleong to Clan Hamilton.
