In 1850, in the Town of Ridgeway, County of Elk, in PA, there's a 25 year old George W. CLYDE, 19 year old Harrison W. Clyde, both born in NY working as laborers living in a household with an Ann C. Clyde, 17 born in PA and 45 year old Martha H.? Worden born in VT. Could be Geo. W. and Harrison were brothers and went to work farming Martha Worden's land? Maybe she's an aunt - their father's sister who became a widow? Just thoughts on why they were there.
In 1870, the Harrison you speak of, shows up with wife Mary in WI - Town of Weston, Dunn County. He is shown as 39 the day that census was done, July 22, 1870 and Mary is 22(funny Mary is 34 ten years later - it's probably only a year off because of whenever her birthday was). It shows 4 kids: 3 boys and a girl. Wm 7, Henry 5, Mary 2, and Berty 3 months. All of the kids were born in WI.
Just so you know, there's another Harrison CLYDE who was also married to a Mary. He was born in PA about 1846 and is probably a son to neighbor, William and Nancy CLYDE ages 55 and 50 respectively and both born in NY. They were on the 1870 census in the Town of Millstone, County of Elk, PA. With THIS Harrison and Mary is a 12 year old Sarah POTTS. His Mary is Mary A. and they have sons by 1880 named, Samuel 5, Burdett 4, and Harry 3. They're still in PA next to Wm.
One more - in the 1850 census for the Town of Warsaw, County of Jefferson, PA, there is a Harrison CLYDE 19, born in NY living in William CLYDE aged 59 born in NY household. There is also Priscilla 61, assumed to be Wm's wife. Two more living in the household are Alelia RIAN 13, and Mary A. BARRETT aged 21. Everyone in the house is listed as born in NY.
There's a marriage record for Harrison W. CLYDE for Nov 6, 1861 in Dunn County, WI. Probably your guy.
Hope some of this helps. I know you're looking to go back farther than 1850 though.

Hello: After reading your message, I thought i'd ask you for some help, if you have the data in your files. I would appreciate it if you know of a Harrison W. Clyde, born 1832 in NY? On the 1880 Census of Rock Creek, Dunn, WI, it shows that his parents were born in Vermont. According to all of the data i've researched through the various genealogy websites, it looks like either James P. Clyde, born 1794 in VT or George Washington Clyde, born in 1798 in VT would be the best bet for Harrison's father/family. Do you have date that shows anything to connect here? I have data about Harrison's family coming forward, but don't know goina back. Thanks so much! God bless!

Hello: I've been researching the James P. Clyde family, wondering if he had a son named Harrison W. Clyde; because Harrison's 1880 Census records show his father and maybe his mother, being born in Vermont. I find only one other possibility and that is for George Washington Clyde, also born in VT. Because James P. was first married to Philena Godfrey, and there is info. that their first son was John H. Clyde, born abt. 1830 in NY, it would be a good fit that Harrison W. , born in 1832 in NY, could be a son of James P. and brother to John H. Clyde. I have info. that shows that Harrison's wife was Mary Elizabeth Biss; a son, Elmer, born 1876 in WI, located to Washington state until his death. I'm trying to put together a true genealogy lineage of this family, so any help you could give would be appreciated! Thanks so much! God bless!
Dear Deborah,
I do not have a Harrison William Clyde in my data base. I do have
George Washington Clyde and Cynthia Davis and I know all of their children,
grandchild, George and Cynthia are my 2 great grandparents. There is no
Harrison. I found William Harrison on One World Tree submitted by Deanna
McCormack on 25 Mar 2004. Her e-mail address is batfan4ver(a)yahoo.com. You
might try to see if this email address is still working.
She gave this info: William H Clyde
born: 3 Apr 1830 NY
died: 8 Apr 1919
Mary Elizabeth Biss
born: 12 April 1848 PA
died: 10 Oct 1932
Listed were 9 children and birth names and dates.
I don't have James P Clyde b 1794 in Burlington, VT in my data base, but
some of the Clydes moved from NH to VT to NY.
I found 3 Blinns in Burlington, VT. I found a William Harrison Blinn
(1814-1886) b Shelburne, Chittenden, VT. His parents were Chester Blinn
(1788-1870) and Margaret (Peggy) Clyde (1786-1817) Peggy was a sister to my
George Washington Clyde (1798-1844) Peggy and George W's parents were
William M (1756-1815) and Mary Cox (1762-1844). William and Mary moved from
NH to VT to NY. Lots of Clydes moved from NH to NY.
The 1850 Ridgeway, Elk, PA Census lists:
George W Clyde age 25 laborer born NY
Ann E age 17 born NY
Martha W Worden age 45 born VT
Harrison W Clyde age 19 laborer born NY
Wordens have md Clydes a couple of times in NY.
I don't know what you know about your William Harrison. Have you checked
the censuses from 1850-1930 ? They are on Ancestry.com. A subscription is
pricey but are available at a local Family History Library in most LDS Stake
buildings free. I work at one very Thurs and can tell you if there is one
close to you. Or I will look up all of the censuses and send the info. I
have info on the Clydes from Daniel (1683-1753) to my mother. (1901-1967).
I would look up all of this but Sat is our family reunion on my dad's family
and I am in charge so I need to go to bed now; so I will be fresh tomorrow
to get everything. Please send me an a-mail erhicks1(a)comcast.net and
hopefully we can find William Harrison's family.

Hello,
Re: BUTLER and/or CLYDE families in 1880s/1890s in Memphis, Shelby County,
Tennessee
I am looking for a CLYDEor a BUTLER family in Memphis, Shelby County,
Tennessee that had a daughter or a granddaughter named Emily Ida CLYDE or Emily Ida
Clyde BUTLER born in abt. 1890. This family may have then later lived in
Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana but I really am not sure. Emily Ida
CLYDE/Emily Ida Clyde BUTLER lived there in 1923 with her husband, Thomas Henry
Shedrick "Tom" BARNETT, Sr. when their only child, Thomas Henry "Tommy" BARNETT,
Jr., was born, and then they later lived in Austin, Travis County, Texas in
the mid-1930s when Emily died I believe in 1936 in Hill County, Texas, (have
that info in another computer so not precisely sure on exact date and
location but think this is right.) It was Labor Day weekend and we believe that the
family had been visiting Tom's brother, Earl BARNETT, in Dallas.
We have always thought that BUTLER was Emily's maiden name but I have
suspected for sometime now that, maybe, she was previously married and that her
maiden name was really CLYDE as we just have not been able to uncover anything
about her family, so far.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who might have a connection for me.
Emily is my husband's paternal grandmother.
Sincerely,
Bellinda Myrick-Barnett

Sorry - I haven't been able to get back befora David Clyde (1781-1847), buried at Old Town Cemetery in Newburgh, NY, who I have presumed is the father of Susan Clyde Wiseman (?- 1880+), who married Archibald Wiseman on December 25, 1838 in Newburgh. Susan and Archibald were the parents of my grandmother's mother. The male Clyde line in Newburgh seems to have run out by 1900. Wish I could help. I need some help myself!

Hello: I've also been researching a line of the Clyde family. I've been looking for the parents of Harrison William/William Harrison Clyde....b.1832 in NY; wife, Mary Elizabeth Biss (see the 1880 Census for Rock creek, Dunn, Wisconsin). I've been leaning towards two possible parents:
1. James P. Clyde- b.1794 in VT
Philena Godfrey- b.19?? in VT/NY
Ch: 1. John H. Clyde- b.abt. 1830 in NY
OR
2. George Washington Clyde- b.1798 in VT

I've read nearly all of the data submitted on the various genealogy websites, Google searches, etc. but dont' find much info. on Harrison's family. I do have descending info. on his family, but just don't know for sure his parents and I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks so much! God bless!

Hello: I've also been researching, trying to find the parents of Harrison William/William Harrison Clyde born in 1832, in NY, according to the 1880 Census of Rock Creek, Dunn, Wisconsin. He shows his father and mother being born in Vermont. After sifting though most of the data submitted via the internet genealogy sites, no one else has a connection. I've been leaning towards two possibles, as both of the fathers and/or mothers were born in Vermont; they are:
George Washington Clyde, Sr.- b1798 in Shelburn,,VT
Cynthia Davis- b.1806 in Reading,,VT
OR
James P. Clyde- b.1794 in Burlington,,VT
Philena Godfrey- b.18?? in NY/VT
Harrison W. Clyde married Mary Elizabeth Biss and after looking at various data, the Vermont connection seems reasonable. Please let me know if you have any info. that gives me backup on my theory, and/or if you have correct data of any kind. Thank you so much! I do have some descending info. if you'd like to have, also. God bless!
