Hi Virginia,
You and I have corresponded in the past and I had told you then that I did not think we were related. However, after further digging I believe that we may be related through your George Clyde of Scotland. The reason I say this is that there are too many coincidences with George’s sons being in Iowa at the same time. Land transfers show a James Clyde, John and Isabella Clyde and David and Ann Clyde owning and selling land around 1855-1866. I have always wondered if James, John and David were brothers, cousins or some relation to each other. This sounds like it is around the time of your Peter Clyde’s son David F. Clyde came to America. Your info about George Clyde lists James, John, David and Peter as brothers. My relationship is through David and Ann Clyde. One of the Land transfers refers to a John and Isabella Clyde selling land to a George Johnston of Buchanan County, Iowa and that John homesteaded the land as did my David Clyde before his wife A!
nn sold their land to their son William born 1820 in PA. All of William’s children were born in Iowa. William died 1889 in Nebraska. Some of William’s descendents moved to South Dakota, which is where I was born (Sioux Falls).
Sure would be great if we could tie all these Clyde’s together. Can you tell me where and how you got the information about George Clyde and his children? All I have ever had was that both David and Ann were born in Ireland around 1780’s, which fits the David you list.
If we are all connected then I also believe that the posting from Martha Clyde referring to John and Isabella are the same ones I listed above which would also make her related to both of us.

I am a descendant of John Clyde b. 1828/30 spouse - Mary in Jefferson County, NY. He named his first born son after William. The census of 1860 shows him born in Canada but any other ones of him all the ones for his kids are on show him born in NY. Could you correspond with me please? Thanks.
