Dear Hazel,
In answer to your request.
It would appear that your family originated in Grooterbroek - a small
fishing village on the Zuiderzee between Hoorn and Enkhuizen, so in the
"lowlands".
I can find no other fishing village, of that time, with the name like
Gutterbuck Presumably they adopted the place name as surname. The baptismal
records for Grooterbroek begin in 1669 and there is a record of marriages
from 1596 to 1608, however by this time your family would have left.
Sorry, but tracing them in / before the sixteenth century is nigh on
impossible, it would be very expensive to employ a specialized genealogist
to search and probably not worth the effort.

Carolyn

John;
Why is it restricted only to people with the surname CLUTTERBUCK. As a
direct CLUTTERBUCK descendant, I carry the same percentage of early
CLUTTERBUCK genes as anybody of today's generation with the actual name
CLUTTERBUCK.
I would also suggest most of the CLUTTERBUCK researchers today are not
CLUTTERBUCK by name.
