Hello Clutterbuck researchers,
Has any one of you connections to my London Clutterbucks? They are:
Benjamin Clutterbuck, b. ?, married Susannah Price on 28 May 1785, at St.
Botolph, Bishopsgate. He was a soldier in the Coldstream Regiment. Their
offspring: 1)Sarah Clutterbuck, b. 8 Feb 1788, bapt. 14 Feb 1790 at St.
Botolph 2)Elizabeth Clutterbuck, b. 23 July 1790, bapt. 25 Dec 1796 @ St.
Botolph 3) James Clutterbuck, b. 30 Dec 1792, bapt. 6 Mar 1793 @ St. Botolph,
4) Charles Clutterbuck, b. 14 Apr 1796, bapt. 25 Dec 1796 @ St. Botolph,
married Martha Lord on 7 Aug 1820 @ St. Mary Lambeth, 5) William Clutterbuck,
b. 29 Aug 1798, bapt. 25 Dec 1798 @ St. Botolph, 6) Benjamin Clutterbuck, b.
25 July 1802, bapt. 1 Nov 1802 @ St. Leonard Shoreditch, 7)Henry Clutterbuck,
b. 14 Aug 1804, bapt. 10 Sep 1804 @ St. Leonard Shoreditch, 8) John
Clutterbuck, b. 29 Aug 1806, bapt. 29 Mar 1807 @ Stepney, Spitalfields
Christchurch.
Further, the offspring of Charles Clutterbuck and Martha Lord (above) were:
1) Charles Brierly Clutterbuck, bapt. 7 Oct 1821 @ St. Mary Lambeth, 2)
Frederick Brairley Clutterbuck, bapt. 9 Mar 1823,@ St. Mary Lambeth, 3)
Martha Brierly Clutterbuck, bapt. 15 Oct 1826 @ St. Dunstan in the West,
London, married George Allen on 19 May 1846 @ Trinity Church, Parish of St.
Andrew, Holborn, 4) Sarah Brierley Cluterbuck, bapt. 15 Oct 1826 @ St.
Dunstan in the West, 5) Henry Clutterbuck, ?bapt. 26 Apr 1829 @ Hatton
Garden, Holborn?, 6) John Clutterbuck, b. 1830-31, married Jane Maria Donkin
in 1853, and 7) Thomas Clutterbuck, b. 1832-33.
(Note to Kathy Witheridge:With reference to the 6th child, John, the 1851
census has him a "solicitor's writing clerk", and the marriage certificate
states he was a "law writer" -- does not fit well with "a servant to an
Officer in the Army".)
I have further descendants from the marriage of Martha B. Clutterbuck and
George Allen, my ancestors.
Any connections out there?

Hi Nigel,
One of my ancestors was Hannah Clutterbuck who married Isaac Smith at
Dursley Gloucestershire in 1820. I have never been able to sort out who
her parents were and I have a copy of the Book of Clutterbuck. However
there was a witness William Clutterbuck at the marriage who could be either
her father, brother, cousin??? Census records reveal Hannah had been born
at a place called Thrupp in Gloucestershire.
If anyone can help me with my Hannah I would appreciate it.

Hello Victor Paul
I didnt realise it was such a popular name.
I hope you may have some information on my Clutterbuck.
I am looking for any info on Alice Ada Clutterbuck who was born 4.7.1880 Falkner Street, Barton, Gloucester
She married my grandfather George Balbour in 1911 in Scotland and died in England in 1959. I have another address where she lived although I am not sure when - Windsor Terrace, St George Cross, Glasgow. After her husband died as a result of injuries in WW1 she came to New Zealand with her 2 teenage sons and lived here until 1959 when she went back to England to live with her brother.
Her father was Walter John Clutterbuck and I have him as an engine driver. Her mother was Amelia Lodge.
I think she had a brother Frank and a sister Elsie.
I have only recently started looking and researching my family tree and would be interested in anything you can help with. It is quite hard from this side of the world but the internet is a wonderful tool isnt it.
Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Nigel, and other Clutterbuck researchers;
Some years ago I did a little research on this name as my husband's
great grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Clutterbuck, who married Charles
Painter in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire, England, on Oct 12, 1878.
The 1881 Census showed:
Seven Waters, Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire
PAINTER, Charles head 24 Builder born Cirencester, Glos
PAINTER, Elizabeth A wife 22 Woolen Cloth Wkr born London
PAINTER, Elizabeth E dau 2 born Leonard Stanley
PAINTER, Florence S dau 9/mo born Leonard Stanley
Did you know that Roy G. Clutterbuck of Los Angeles, California, has a
Clutterbuck Archives? He wrote me several years ago and has an
abundance of information of this name.
I cannot find anything much on Elizabeth Ann Clutterbuck, according to
the 1881 census, was born c 1859 in London, Middlesex. It is believed
that her father was John Clutterbuck, who was a servant to an Officer in
the Army.
Any further information would be greatfully accepted.
Kind regards

It has been 18 months since we had a roll call. Since then the numbers on
this list have gone from 24 to 42. So mail away with your interests if you
wish (you can do that at any time of course!), mine follow.
My CLUTTERBUCK ancestry is from James CLUTTERBUCK, blacksmith. He
migrated from his birthplace of Westbury-on-Severn, Gloucestershire,
England to Christchurch, New Zealand in 1878 as a single 22 year old.
James father was William CLUTTERBUCK, also a blacksmith born
Westbury-on-Severn, Gloucestershire, England but circa 1820. William
married Caroline BALDWIN (his cousin).
William's father was another William CLUTTERBUCK, also a blacksmith.
This William was in Westbury-on-Severn parish by 1814 (specifically at
the hamlet of Northwood Green) . William married Sarah BALDWIN in 1816
at St Mary de Lode in the city of Gloucester. He said he was from nearby
Ashleworth in one census return, Hasfield in another.
However I'm now convinced that I have this William identified. He was
baptised in Hasfiled in 1786, father Stephen CLUTTERBUCK and mother
Elizabeth nee HOBBS. These two were married in Hasfield in 1784 but where
Stephen came from before that is still unknown. The only other child of
Stephen's I can track is James. He was baptised in 1790, married 1816 in
Gloucester (double wedding with brother William) to Jane SURMAN. They
appear in the 1851 census for Deerhurst and he died there in 1857. I
haven't found any children to the marriage.
My CLUTTERBUCK family seems to disappear from the Westbury area about
1910. A 1950s Country Womens Institute history with the quote
"There were forges in Northwood Green. One at Forge Cottage, now
occupied by Mrs. C. Wilkes, was run by a man named Clutterbuck, who
was well known as a particularly fine craftsman...".
Looking to hear from the rest of the list ..........
