from the book Seventeenth Century Isle of Wight by Boddie: [Isle of
Wight, VA]
Margaret Clutterbuck, sister of William Holliday, alderman of London [d.
14 Mar 1623]. He was buried church of St Lawrence Old Jury; left
legacy to dau. Margaret Hungerford [2 parts of his manor] of
Pucklechurch, Gloucester. Mentions bro. Samuel & John in his will,
also cousin John.
my note: Holliday & Hungerfords settled in MD., as well as VA, 17th
century, but the earliest Clutterbuck/Clatterbuck I can find is 1730s VA
.

Bill,
Now, that's a darn interesting bit of info on Clutterbucks... I'll
keep it even if he isn't mine!
Thanks for sharing
Jeanne
Recently I read in Samuel Pepys' Diary that on 4 February 1663/64 he met
Alderman
"Clutterbucke". According to Gloucestershire Notes and Queries Volume 5
1891/3 page
553 Sir Thomas Clutterbuck was a knight, merchant, and alderman of London ,
knighted at Whitehall on 4 August 1669 , died 11 February 1682 and buried
at Ware ,
Hertfordshire. No relative of mine!

Hi, Nigel:
I have Clatterbucks [same family as Clutterbuck] in Fauquier Co. VA.
My grandmother was Alice Belle Clatterbuck, dau. of John Moses and
Sarah Jane Cockrill Clatterbuck. John son of Reuben Clatterbuck of
Madison co. VA., who m. Judith Broyles/Broils in Madison 1827.
I've gathered a good amount of Clatterbuck data, back to ca 1730s in

Hi, friend. Thanks for posting your line - if there is more to share
, I'd love to see it.
My grandmother was Alice Belle Clatterbuck of Fauquier Co. VA., b.
1889, dau. of John Moses of Culpeper Co., son of Reuben Clatterbuck of
Culpeper & Madison Co., VA, m. Judith Broyles in Madison Co. 1827.
Alice was a twin. I have the line back further, but not handy [meaning
I don't know where my file is]. I've tracked Clatterbuck [and the usual
various spellings] back to Spotyslvania Co VA ca 1730s.
I can find the file and post more, if you are interested in a VA
connection. do you have a stateside line? If you know more ref. the
London family, I'd love to hear it. My grandmother m. John Andrew Porter
in Washington, DC 1912, my dad, Silas, was named after her twin.
