I have checked with the Vermont state historical society. They did not have any information on Clutes. I shall have to keep digging.

Vermont... I only have one source on Vermont. I once ran across an entry that said Sgt. Clute married ( I think it was Laura something).. Never knew who the Sgt. Clute could be.. But I would be willing to bet at this period, that this is one of the New York Clutes..

Allen and Harriett both died in Dresden. The Washington County Historical Society was very helpful with documentation. I have all the information on them from Dresden on I am seeking information on their Vermont link.

Message Board Post:
Hello All,
I traced my Clute line back to Allen Clute and Harriet Hilliker. They are listed on several census as being born in Vermont in the early 1800's. They settled in Dresden, Whitehall, New York and had a large family. I am descended throught their son Charles Clute. Does anyone have any information on Clutes from Vermont. Charles married a Bessie Barber whose parents were John Barber and Adeline Ripley, also of the Whitehall area. Charles and Bessie settled in the East Corinth area and are buried in the rural cemetary there. Any information is appreciated
