I think that this is the George W. Clute that I am looking for as my half-sisters' ancestor. Did this George W. Clute migrate to Southern CA?

Nana's name and face came into my mind today as she looked in the 1950s when we were both students at the summer music camp on Lake Seneca run by the Roosa School of Music of Brooklyn, N.Y. I have no idea why her name and face came to me this morning. In any case, I googled her name and felt great sorrow when I saw there was an obituary for someone by that name. And then, the fact that she had lived in the Finger Lakes region and had worked with horses immediately identified for me that this was, indeed, my old summer pal.
And now it has just dawned on my why her name had popped into my head: I had seen a story (with photo) in the WSJ on the declining fortunes of the John Deere Company. While glancing at it, I suddenly remembered that while visiting Nana's family once, Nana had commented, upon hearing the whomp, whomp, whomp of the slow-turning tractor engine: "Here comes old John Deere." Being a city kid, she had to explain to me what she was talking about.
Also, being a city kid I didn't know anything about horses until she introduced me to Goldie. And I didn't know anything about sailing until she introduced me to the sport onboard her family's K-boat. But mostly what I remember about Nana is her full smile and her enthusiasm for life.
My (very belated) condolences to all her family.

In order to find people, we need more information. State of residence... approximate birth date.. any other family members. It is simply not possible to supply any information about anyone without more information. I collect all Clutes over the years, but do not deal with living people. There is a privacy issue.

I am a son of Danny Clute. I was adopted and my birth was keep from Danny as I was told by my biological Mother he would have harmed me and my birth mother. I once had a conversation with Greg Clute's then girl-friend amd they had a small girl at that time. The girl-friend was very kind but was extremely causious and scared to bring the conversation up. However, she did so rather gingerly but according to her Greg denied any such knowledge of me and stated he was the youngest and his dad never mentioned me. Well of course not, he was not aware of my birth as he was told I died at birth. I'm told my grandmother was very suspious of this but dropped it at the time due to Danny's alleged temper.

Robert Frairy Clute, born 23 Oct 1829 married Diane Netherton. They had a lot of children and lived mostly in South Carolina. He was a minister of an episcopal church. I find one descendent on this line.. Sandra Clute Orsini.. Way back she lived in Waterford, Ct.
Then I have a descendent on the
Elizabeth Clute Tisdal line.. Lisa Gottling, BayVillage, Ohio. You might try a web search to see if either of these turn up. They had information on the family..

Stephanie, I think you are absolutely right about Jacob Clute being the one that died in 1845. I found Ann Clute on the 1850 Census in New York, NY and she was living with her daughter Elizabeth and her husband Fitzgerald Tisdale, spelled Tisdill on the census. The information you gave me was great and I hope it pans out to help me make a connection to Keturah.

I found a 1830 Census for New York City that lists a Jacob Clute. There are 2 males (probably Jacob and Robert) and 5 females (probably Anna, Elizabeth, and 3 other unknown children). I am going to try to find out the other three children through the Dutch Reformed records. My Keturah Jane Clute's birthdate fits right into the census data so this may be her parents. Thanks so much for the information, Stephanie! I will let you know if I find out any additional information.

Jacob Douwe Clute is the son of Douwe Clute and Elizabeth Van Huysen. He was born 19 May 1800. He married Ann Van Brunt McCarty on 15 Nov 1819 at the New York Garden Street Dutch Reformed Church. Her parents were: Peter McCarty and Eliza Magaw. I have Childre: Elizabeth, 30 May 1821, same church as marriage. Jacob ( two Jacobs, both died young) and Robert Frairy on 23 Oct 1829 and married Diane Metherton( there are descendents from this marriage). Jacob may have died 13 Feb 1845 in New York City. At least a Jacob Clute did and he is the only one I know ofg.

I am looking for information on Jacob Douwe Clute. I have that he was born on 5/19/1800 in Schnectady, NY and died 12/6/1856 in New York City. His wife was Ann Van Brunt McCarty. She was born in 1802 in Coxsackie, New York and died 9/1868. She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. I am not sure where Jacob is buried. I believe Jacob and Ann might be related to Caturah (Clute) Dickson and may be her parents. Most of the information I have is from a family tree listed on Ancestry and I was wondering if anyone has information on Jacob and Ann or their children. Any help would be appreciated.
