I have received generous messages from researchers regarding Johannes Cloet/Clute - Thanks to you all, I appreciate the help. While I do already have quite a bit of information regarding Johannes, I am specifically looking for when and where he was captured and when and how his release from captivity was arranged. Thanks again!

I have never found anything more on his captivity. However Bata was considered such a good businesswoman that she was permitted to handle all of his affairs and this was quite unusual at the time.

I have two references to Johannes Cloet b. about 1755; d. 1725 and his captivity in Canada as follows: "In 1692 he being a prisoner in Canada, his wife Baata managed his affairs at home." and "To add to his troubles, he was taken prisoner by the Indians and carried to Canada." Does anyone have any further information on his capture by the "Indians" or his release from captivity in Canada? Any further information is greatly appreciated.
