Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
1. In “Genealogies of the First Settlers of Albany, 1630-1800" by Pearson,
pg 31-32, it is recorded that a Capt Johannes (Jans) Clute (Cloet) came from
Neurenbergh (where??) to Beverwyck about 1656 and became a trader &
landowner at Loonenburg, Niskayuna and Albany. On his death his estate went
to a nephew Johannes the 2nd Clute, the boslooper (d. 1725) who was married
to Bata Van Slichenhorst (dau of Gerrit).
2. I have also rec'd a hint (source unknown to me) that Johannes the 2nd's
father was Jacob and his mother was Anna ?
My questions are:
3. Is there any information which is different from and conflicting with
Pearson?
4. Are there sources which provide more detail and previous generations on
Capt. Johannes Clute?
5. What are the sources for the "hint" that I mention in no 2 above?
6. If there is more information about Jacob Clute and his wife Anna
mentioned in no 2 above, I would appreciate receiving it. Do we know whether
he ever settled in New Netherlands?
7. What is the general level of confidence in Pearson's records and
particularly his Clute records?
Any information on the early Clutes of New Netherlands would be much
appreciated. 30 jan 00

Can any one help her?
Remember that you can click on a box on the GenConnect pages to be

Hi List,
I would like to invite you to visit the CLUTE GenConnect Boards that I
just signed up to administrator at Rootsweb. Surnames have their own
sites with a search engine for each project on Rootsweb: WorldConnect;
Social Security Death Index; Rootsweb Surname List; Immigrant Ships
Transcribers Guild; USGenWeb Archives; Link Registry; and List Archives.
At the bottom of the main page you will find 7 brightly colored jig-saw
puzzle pieces which are the links to the GenConnect Boards. Queries;
Bible Records; Biographies; Deeds; Obituaries; Pensions; Wills.
The boards are threaded archives where you can post queries and data on
the surname Clute. You can click on a box to be notified any time a new
posting occurs. This would be a great place to post some primary sources
you have obtained, even ones that you have discovered don't belong in
your line!
