Twelve Steps to Recovery
Admit that you are powerless over Genealogy and that your life has become
impossible since you cannot remember the names of your spouse and/or
children.
Honor thy parents today only.
Honor thy grandparents only if they're still trout fishing, reading
"whodunits" or baking cookies.
Read no obituaries but thine own.
Answer no queries about your ancestry. (You may however swing into
appropriate action if someone calls you an unkind name.)
Never, ever, respond to a child who asks what life was like in the "olden
days" unless you are practicing your backhand.
Live each day one day at a time.
Rid your premises of calendars, diaries, newspapers, histories, and, yes, the
family bible.
Promise you will never again thumb through phone directories in strange towns
looking for the maiden names of your mother, mother-in-law, grandmother,
great grandmother, etc.
When approached by someone asking if you have a cousin in Podunk, run, do not
walk, to the nearest exit.
Promise never to approach within one mile of any computer that has been
loaded with P.A.F.
Take up Yoga or the piccolo.

Anna Maria was my great grandmother! George promptly remarried and moved to
Sullivan Co, IN. I've never located any descendants from that second
marriage and always wondered if they knew that daddy had been married once
before!!

Good job. Now how about step by step (easy ones) on how you did that. I'd
like to do a couple for some of my lines. Remember I know how to type, not a
computer expert. Keep the instructions real basic.
Your other option is to come to AZ and spend the winter with me.

Okay I have made a website on the Clunk family and also mentioned the mailing
list.
Not all the information is on it yet but it's a start please let me know what
you think. Also if anyone else has a website doing with the Clunk family
please post it to the list.

I have adding the information of the The Klunk Family by Charles Wood. I was
wondering if anyone has a copy of the book History of the Upper Ohio Valley,

Hi All,
Just a little story about the Conewago Chapel Records. My gg grandfather,
Charles Louis Stornbaugh, son of Lydia Clunk and John Stornbaugh, was an
only child, according to family stories. As I was searching the baptisms
that were in a transcribed book (Can't remember the book) I came across a
sister for Charles Louis, born the same day. Her name was Caroline Louise
Stornbaugh, daughter of John Stornbaugh and Lydia Clunk. Excitedly I
decided he had been a twin and Caroline had died. I thought it was odd that
no one in the family knew this, since there was a family Bible, and the info
about Charles had been entered, and the female child had been baptized. I
decided to look at the original entry and upon examination of the record,
which was in Latin, my three years of high school Latin finally paid off. I
noticed the endings of words were for the masculine and not feminine gender.
After checking through name books, I finally found the German equivalent for
Charles Louis was something like Carileum Ludvidica. Great grandpa was
back to being an only child and I reported the error to the librarian.
Hopefully that hasn't happened in too many cases with those records. I do
know the Stornbaugh name is spelled 3 different ways in one christening
record.
'til later,

The 12 Dec 1803 christening is actually my ancestor Martin Crouten Clunk.
The record says Peter in error. Win
