Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi Everyone
This is a test to see if Inez is successfully subscribed.
Good news: I have updated my Burr tree - it goes way back to Aberdeen 1700's.
(Jean & Katie Burr married Clugstons). If anyone wants a copy let me know.
Not so good news. My latest Knott connection researches non-Clugston Ontario Knotts from England.

Hi Everyone:
I've been chatting with a lister on the Scot-Islay list and we discovered she has Clugston and Lougheed relatives. Here's her latest e-mail, but with due respect for privacy I'e *ed their names, in future I'll ask permission to post their names.Meanwhile, If you have any Clugston/Lougheed queries I'll pass them on. And there may be hope Ed will get his CLUGSTON website active again!
Hi Caren,
I will pass on your e-mail to * and * Clugston. Since * has been
researching Lougheads for 30 years, you may want to connect with her too.
I'll give her a copy of your e-mail since she doesn't have internet access.
Anything you care to send, I would be happy to pass along to her.
Bye for now,
L*
P.S. When I called * and * about Ed's (CLUGSTON) web-site address this was their response:
Hi *,
Caren Cameron already has the email address we had for Ed Clugston
but it is not working right now. He moved from Virginia to a new location in
Pennsylvania, I believe, and his email address hasn't been changed in the
family tree section. If I get a new one for him I will let you know.
Hi Everyone:
I think I've found another Knott researcher. Will let you know.
Inez, if you get this message you're successfully listed. Let me know.

Hi Everyone:
As of today we have 4 subscribers.
I've 'programmed' the list as follows;
> Largest entry 100k. Don't send photos, attachments, or use big, fancy type or it'll "bounce".
>I will be notified of any additions or deletions from the list, and now & then let everyone know how many are subscribing.
>Every list message will labeled [CLUGSTON] so you know it's a list message and not a private e-mail.
>When you reply to a message using the 'reply' button your reply will automatically be sent to the list. If your message or reply is personal, private, or contains attachments, make sure it's not addressed to the list!
>Digests (for those in D mode) will be sent every 24 hours. This can change to 12 or 48 by popular demand.
>If you're unfamiliar with mailing lists or lack common sense, be forewarned that as administrator I will not tolerate rude & nasty messages, sales pitches, or endless discussions completely off topic. I have the ability to remove subscribers but will give a 1 private warning first. The list is for discussions re all subjects involving CLUGSTONS and any related families: Knotts, Laugheeds, Raburns, Smiths, etc.
>I'm about to receive via snail mail full documents re my Islay Spences from mid-1700's, every descendent, every branch right down to me. Two months ago I had only a name and a birth date. This is because of helpful connections I could only have made via the Scotland-Islay list. Hopefully this kind of magic can be experienced by others via this list. Feel very free to promote it! Happy hunting!
Caren
Thanks for organizing this, Caren - Yes, I'm connected!
