Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi, Folks!
FYI... The following was included in the latest issue of the RootsWeb
Review. It's included here for those of you who might have missed reading
it. It takes a little time to get use to it, but I have personally found
the Advanced tab in this new archive search to be more powerful than the old
method.

New and Improved List Search Engine

Looking for the old searchable mailing list archives? Randy has replaced
the old listsearches search engine with a new, and much improved, spiffy
search engine. As a result, we no longer need two archives and they have
been combined into one. If you want to browse or read the archives of a
list, post by post, you can do so at: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/
To search the archives, click on the Beta Search all of the archiver
listings link at the bottom of the above page. The new search has some
great advantages. The first is that you can search ALL of the lists at one
time. You no longer need to know the name of a specific list. If you want to
narrow your search, use the Advanced option. Not only can you search just
one list, but you can search the body of a message, the subject or limit
your search to a specific poster by entering their email address. You also
have several options for the date such as a specific day, month or year.
Click on the Search tips link to help you improve your search results.
The old URL for listsearches will redirect you to the advanced search page.
Or you can go there directly by using
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/search?aop
We are sure you will find the new archives a great improvement. Kudos to
Randy!

Folks,
I learned this, this morning while reading email from the Listowners list:
===========================================================================
...now that the SPAM filters have been tightened, more mail is disappearing.
Please make sure that your list subscribers know that they must send all
posts in Plain Text. Emails in HTML disappear without a trace.
If they need help with doing this, the Helpdesk has a useful Howto:
