Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I am interested in finding information about my father's half brothers decendants. Lester Cluff had three sons from his first marriage and my father, Arthur Cluff, by his second marriage to a widow, Gerogia
Mapes. They were from Ohio. Any information will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Folks!
Surnames A-C are still the only ones that have been migrated. Following
this message are notices received on the Help Desk site and on the
LIST-UPDATE mailing list. Hopefully the migration will pick up again
soon. This too will pass... eventually. :)

Mail List Migration on Hold
We have run into an email delivery problem that affects our AOL list
subscribers. In order to minimize the effect on AOL subscribers, the
update of mailing lists D-Z has been delayed until the problem can be
resolved.
We will post an announcement here and update the schedule when the AOL
problems have been resolved and we can begin migrating again. Thank you
for your patience.

Folks!
CLUFF-L was migrated last night from SmartList to Mailman. You should
not see much difference at all, we hope! You still post messages to
cluff-l(a)rootsweb.com. This message is sent as a test.

Hi Folks!
Hopefully you received the message from RootsWeb LIST-ANNOUNCE-L
yesterday about the upcoming changes to mailing lists. Due to the fact
I can no longer keep up with LISTOWNERS-L, this was the first I had
heard of any changes. I have subscribed to the List-Update list and
attempting tonight to absorb what is going on from the hundreds of
messages.
Initially, the change was to start for lists beginning with the letters
A-C tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 August 2006. Now it is scheduled for A-C the
following Thursday, 17 August 2006. That's CLUFF-L and COUNTRYMAN-L
where I am concerned as List Admin.
Best to use the following URL to keep up-to-date at:
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html
From what I am reading, at the minimum, the change per RootsWeb will
only affect anyone who is subscribed in both LIST and DIGEST modes. You
will no longer be able to subscribe to both list modes with the same
email address. You can belong to both modes if you desire but you will
need to subscribe to them using different email addresses. You can
always use a free online email service such as Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail.
Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume
and issue numbers of the list digests.
RootsWeb does suggest that the list members, if they use filtering in
their email, to check to be sure the filters are working after the
changeover. Be forewarned, in beta tests AOL users have had issues with
the new mailing list service. Only about half the messages have reached
AOL users. You may want to occasionally check the list's archive web
pages. I'll send their URL's as soon as I'm sure their addresses won't
change.
Best of luck!! I'm back to reading messages on LIST-UPDATE!! BTW, I
found out from this list the Message Boards are being updated as well!
Back to reading! :)

Subject: RootsWeb Mailing Lists are being Updated
Dear RootsWeb mailing list subscriber,
We are excited to announce that in the coming weeks, the RootsWeb.com
mailing lists will be moving to a new list management system.
Why?
The new list management system offers updated technology, better spam
control, and more efficient hosting of the lists.
When?
All the lists won't be updated all at once. In fact, once we start it
will take us about two weeks to complete the process. We've posted the
additional details about the update and a current update schedule at the
link below.
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html
This page can also be found by following the link found on
http://lists.rootsweb.com. If there are any changes to the schedule,
we'll update this page to let you know.
How will it Affect You?
Your current subscription(s) will automatically transfer to the new
system so there will be no need to re-subscribe to your list(s),
however, because the sending and receiving of list email will be handled
by a new system, you may notice a few changes to your list(s).
Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume
and issue numbers of the list digests.
The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the
"from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly
different- ListName(a)rootsweb.com vs. the current
ListName-L(a)rootsweb.com. You may have to adjust your spam filters or
put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being
caught in your "junk" folder.
This sounds like a big change, but it doesn't have to change the way you
use the list.
Here's why:
- You will still be able to send messages to the list using the
"ListName-L(a)rootsweb.com" email address you use today. Additionally, you
can choose to drop the "-L" and send your messages to
ListName(a)rootsweb.com. Both addresses will work after the list has been
migrated.
- You will still be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the mail or
digest mode by sending your request to ListName-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
or ListName-D-request(a)rootsweb.com as you do today. You will also be
able to unsubscribe from the mail or digest mode by sending your
"unsubscribe" message to LISTNAME-request(a)rootsweb.com.
The tools that list administrators use to manage their list will also be
changing. If you are a list admin, you will be contacted in an
additional email on Monday with more details and a link to a tutorial.
We're excited about the improvements to the lists because we feel
confident that they will ensure that the mailing lists continue to run
smoothly for years to come. We appreciate your patience while we make
this transition and hope that the RootsWeb mailing lists will continue
to be a valuable tool in your genealogy research.
Thanks,
The Rootsweb Staff

Folks!
I found the following while searching for CLUFF on RootsWeb's PML
search. I thought I'd place it in CLUFF-L's archive just in case it
might match up with someone someday. To access the archive, merely go
to:

How close is Yorkshire to Cheshire in England...? Cheshire is the
origin of the folks that had the exact 12 marker DNA match for my line
last year.
Owen, Would you be interested in participating in the DNA test...? If
so, contact Rebecca Harpole at: rbharpole(a)aol.com I hope you will!

I also came across in 1910 George 54, had remarried Lucinda born PA and
in 1910 was 44, daughter Reba 17 and father in law William Graham age 85
Address- 6530 Haverford Ave. Philadelphia,Pa.
Has anyone come across this family. I have so many holes you can drive a
bus through it.
